Yoshi's eyes (with puplis) closes like that in Yoshi's Story.

In Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island they close like the one on the left, but in Yoshi's Wooly World they work like the one on the right.

Hm... From what I have seen...both.

The right is what he does when he is happy/other similar emotions and the left would be what he does in general, I think.

It's both. In the series, The right represents that he is happy or proud. The other is just regular blinking or closing his eyes.

No pupil blinks as far as I know of, so the one on the right would be less salient psychologically to watch as natural. I'd like to hear why people are drawn to the other one :)

Hmmm... I'd say either is possible. The one without eyelids would suggest that the interior of Yoshi's eye was capable of closing itself off which for a dinosaur like yoshi doesn't seem too impossible. (Sorry to revive a long dead debate)
