Vivien portrayed as a Gray Jedi, reaching out to a young apprentice to lead them onto the path of unfiltered truth. The Jedi Order believe the Dark Side is to be entirely avoided, order and the light side of the force must be upheld for the safety of all. Without darkness there can be no light, without light there can be no darkness. The Force is constantly in balance between light and dark.
The Gray Jedi embrace the force at its entirety, choosing to walk their own path free of the Council's guidance, but not surrendering to dark corruption. I have long believed this has been the reason for conversions as drastic as Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. Ignorance of the dark side of the force offers no defense against its pull. Once they are exposed to the power, with no adequate teaching to stay them from giving into the darkness, they turn to the dark side and become evil.
Take her hand padawan, become one with the full extent of the Force.
