Afternoon
1310 hours

It was a chaotic afternoon, various gunshots and panicked screams were heard from the outside of an old, out of date, and almost decrepit looking, but somewhat still standing apartment complex. Various onlookers and curious bystanders slowly trickled in towards the police barricaded scene, unfolding inside the said complex. The glow of the various unit cars, and the sight of the various special units that suiting up to go inside, that surrounded the area around the building, adding to the rising tension in the area. Not only for the officers on the scene, but as well for the innocent bystanders watching, and for a certain human and ferret inside the buildings causing the tense atmosphere in the first place.

“REAAAAAAAGH COME ON! WHERE’S THE BACK UP?!?!” Rev screamed, diving mid air barely dodging bullets, into a hallway, firing back at various thugs that intended to send the human and the ferret upstairs. “They’ll be here soon Rev. Dispatch already alerted nearby units of the situation.” The ferret responded grumpily but in a controlled manner. Tanya, leading the way towards unfortunately, towards a locked door at the end of the hallway. “Dangit, locked door.” Rev hearing this responded. “Well” Rev said getting back up from the ground. “Where ever they are, we’re still here for our guy Tanya, suckers not gonna get away from us, and that door isn’t gonna be one of those reasons!” Tanya looked back seeing the thugs from earlier making their way downstairs to the floor they were on. “Rev cover me, i’m gonna open this door” “Oooh, with pleasure bud” Rev proceeded to take aim down the hall with his new sidearm wanting an excuse to use it as much as possible. “How long is it gonna take Tanya?” Rev asked not breaking his sight from the hallway, and the thugs heading closer and closer towards their position, the muffled footsteps getting louder and clearer also a clear indicator of their positions.

“Three seconds.” Tanya responded. “H-how? That door is solid metal, and-” Rev jumped and before he could finish his sentence a loud mechanical whir followed by the loud explosion of an apparent metal door blown being off its hinges derailed that train of thought. “WHAT WAS THAT TANYA?!?!” Rev visibly shaken turning around forgetting to watch the hallway for a little. “Hmmph! Our way to the top of the building!” Tanya said excitedly more than usual. “Oh nice! Don’t know how you did it, but I ain’t gonna ask!” Rev said walking towards Tanya cheerfully, Rev seeing Tanyas’ face change from accomplished, to focused and aggressive at the same time raising her firearm reminded Rev a what was following them and what he was doing in the first place, watching the hallway. “REV WATCH OUT!” Tanya taking cover into the newly opened room from arms fire and also firing back at the thugs that managed to catch up to them, neutralizing a few in the process “OH SHI-” Rev, turning around attempting to fire back while running to the room, was too late and managed to have a bullet graze his left arm from one of the many bullets flying by Rev and Tanya “AAAAEAGH” Rev said almost dropping his gun and barely getting into the room Tanya was in.

Tanya, using a coffee table, blocked the entrance where the door used to be. After that instinctive reaction, it all was eerily quiet on both sides, but still just as tense. Rev, clutching his bleeding arm, looked at the room they we’re in. “They’re not following us into the room, that's a bit odd, but... Good. Cause the only way out of here is that ladder outside the balcony. Towards the-” Rev was interrupted by Tanya “Rev. Hun. You just got shot, sure its a graze, but still. Your arms bleeding all over the place. You we’re supposed to be covering the hallway. Remember?” Tanya looking worried for Rev. Looking at his arm, responded “I uhh… Well… I got distracted by how the door just suddenly disappeared, and the loud noise hinting some sort of explosion, but… There wasn't one and all that, so… I was curious! Heh” Rev looking embarrassed. “Well… I mean yeah, but still though. You had one job Rev.” Tanya said a little sourly. “I know, I get a little distracted at times a little too easily. It’s Some- AGGGGH GET DOWN!”

Rev shouted grabbing Tanya and diving towards the ground as countless bullets out of nowhere begin perforating the room full of holes and proceeding to send shrapnel flying about from the various impacts of said items with speeding pieces of lead intended for the human and ferret. Almost a good solid fifteen seconds passed by until the barrage of bullets finally stopped once again. Looking around, Rev and Tanya saw the bullet riddled room they were in, various vases, plates, windows, and other furniture lading the room, torn apart, splintered and flat out blown apart. Out of nowhere a thug kicks away the table blocking the door and storms into the room ready to put the duo down. “TASTE THIS YOU PIGS!” In swift retaliation, on their backs, Rev and Tanya fired back. Rev putting three rounds into the thugs torso, and Tanya putting a round into the head putting the thug down. After another minute or so. Rev spoke up breaking the silence. “You alright bud? You hit at all?” Rev and Tanya checking themselves for any sort of injuries possible lacerations. “Yeah, i’m good hun.” Rev and Tanya both getting back up, looking around once more. As if on cue, more gunfire erupts once more causing the pair to duck once more for cover. But this time the gunfire was coming from the the outer end of the hallway rather than the inner part of the hall, near the room where at.

“Clear!” “Clear!” “Clear!” “One more room to check!” All those words were systematically shouted one by one. “Control we have four neutralized, five in custody.” Hearing this, both Tanya and Rev knew it was backup. “Hey! Don’t fire! Friendlies in the room!” Rev shouted immediately “Identify yourselves!” Rev was swiftly answered back. “Im detective Rev Oliver!” Rev answered. “Officer Tanya Pavlov here!” Tanya added in. “Control, we’ve made contact with the two, over.” A moment of silence passed by. “Copy. Alright! Come out slowly with your hands up and weapons down!” Tanya and Rev look at each other and did as they said. Both put their weapons away and made their way towards the door, and wither their hands up. After a bit, they all made their way to the door, meeting the squad outside. Making visual contact with the backup in the hallway put both Tanya and Rev, and the squad outside at ease for a bit. The leader seeing Revs arm immediately radioed in “We have one hit, but still stable. Possible medical needed.” Rev remembering his arm. Oh yeah, thats right. Tanya looking at Rev and his little side comment. With Rev looking back. “Alright.” Rev and Tanya looking at the squad leader. “The man you’re after is on the rooftop, with no way out of the rooftop, we’ve got him cornered like a animal.” The squad leader said straightforwardly, both Tanya and Rev trying to hide a smile from the possible pun they or may not have made. “Oh is he now? Perfect...” Rev said in response. “Looks like he’s willing to put up a fight, and or possibly go down if need be, and if we have to take him down, we will detective. Unless you can take him down otherwise.” The leader said. “Hmm…” Rev said looking back to the window with the stairs leading to the rooftop in view. The leader seeing what Rev was looking at, managed to come up with a game plan. “ How about you and Tanya go up those steps around the guy on the rooftop, and my team to through the front?” The leader looked at the two, with Rev and Tanya looking back at each other, then nodding back in unison. “Sure.” Both said in response. “Alright. Let’s move!” The squad leader turning back to his team telling them to move up to the rooftop. After this, the two proceeded to make their way towards the window, and eventually, the steps. “Hey, you ever think all this was gonna go down over a simple warrant arrest?” Rev making their way through the kitchen. “Not really, but. When you get fired upon before even making it up a few floors… I can safely say, anythings out the window at this point.” Tanya said. “Yeah, like that one thug that go the drop on you?” Rev said. “Hah, it was only one story, and it didn’t happen again Rev.” Tanya swiftly responded. “You right.” Rev and Tanya carefully going through the window and onto the platform the steps resided on. Immediately, the two began quietly walking up the steps hearing the new situation above currently unfolding.

“Put the gun down now!” The squad from earlier, breaching the rooftops and looking at the suspect, guns drawn. Police, and news choppers circled the rooftop looking at the unfolding situation. “Aww jeez, we gotta get him fast. This is gonna turn ugly.” Rev said, lockpicking the locked gate in front of him, leading to the rooftop, at the situation hidden out of sight. “Oh crap, it is.” Tanya said seeing the view from behind Rev. “Got it!” Rev quietly opened the door, and immediately hid behind a structure looking at the suspect. “COME ON, YOU WANT SOME?!?” The male snake like anthro waving his gun around, yet to fire a shot, and setting off a flurry of chaos on the verge of erupting as is. “Come on… You’re going down you piece of filth… This… This is for killing her...” Rev began to steadily move closer to where the suspect was. The suspect was near the edge of the ledge, overlooking the entrance below. In the view of the bystanders and police below. Tanya still taken back from Rev’s comment, stayed behind a little “What the hell did Rev mean by that?” Tanya thought to herself. While this happened, Rev was nearing the suspect and just in time to see him slither onto the ledge. Rev knew he was probably gonna jump and didn’t want that happening, after seeing the suspect edge closer, Rev decided it was now or never. Without a second thought, Rev made a break for the suspect, in his mind, it was either he fell to his death, ot by Revs own hand, if it came to that. Either way, at least for the human, it was secretly a win-win.

The naga suspect seeing the human closer to him without warning, made him go off the edge, literally. The suspect was in mid air, but luckily Rev managed to catch a hold of the suspect’s tail grabbing onto him for dear life. “YOU AIN’T GETTING OFF THAT EASILY KHELBEN” The suspect looked at the human holding him, his eyes narrowing deviously. “How’s Virgil doing buddy?” Hearing that name made Rev freeze, not in fear, but anger. “Doin the usual… Nine to Five grind I assume?” The suspect was trying to make him drop him in spite and anger, but instead backfired and found himself getting pulled up towards the human he was trying to piss off. Seeing this, Khelben had to think fast, and by this, pulled out a tiny pen knife and secretly began waiting at the human making an attempt to grab the rest of him to pull him up. Rev seeing the naga in front of him, waited no time to pull him up and arrest him, but didn’t know of the surprise the naga had in store for him. “Alright, you’re gonna enj- AHHH” Rev screamed as the Naga began stabbing at Rev’s hand trying to pull him back up. “Yeah! How you like that!” The Naga making accurate jabs at Rev’s other hand trying to get a hold of him “The only way you’re gonna get me is- AAAGGHH” Out of nowhere, a familiar looking metal arm grabbed the nagas arm that held the knife and bashed it against the concrete adge making it drop and proceeded to restrain him too, it was Tanya. Rev looked at the sudden help and proceeded to swiftly pull up the naga and with the help of Tanya, place handcuffs on the suspect. “YOU’RE UNDER ARREST YOU BASTARD” Rev holding his hand, bleeding a little, the blade was small, but it still did some damage. And with that, the squad and tanya all eased up a bit and began radioing in that the threat was apprehended and put into custody. Tanya motioned the squad to come over and help restrain the naga, while Rev bittersweetly recited the miranda rights, as procedure called for it. As all was said and done, the squad placed khelben into more restraints to keep the naga in check. Rev, standing there watching his and Tanyas’, suspect being put into additional was satisfying to say the least, that was until Rev remembered he had a few wounds to attend to soon. “Heya hun” Tanya lightly patting Revs shoulder. “You holding up?” Rev, still looking into the distance, as if in a trance, answered right after. “I knew you heard me Tanya.” Tanya took back a little from the sudden change in Rev’s demeanor. Rev sight a little. “His name is Khelben Kowalski or, K.K. as he sometimes goes by, he was suspected of being an illegal arms dealer and smuggler, that came from a few confiscated weapons we all took here and there from various busts. All, in some way, shape or form… Somehow led back to him. He was also suspected to have possible ties to a local naga crime family here that operated a few of the local meat and food processing facilities here. I was the one looking into the khelben case and all that. Asked Vons for help… I… I think I sent her… I should’ve...”

Rev stopped putting his head into his hands, not caring about getting blood on his face, most of it was dried up anyways. “Rev… What’s happening?” Tanya asked, feeling worried. Rev turned around and placed his hands on Tanyas shoulders looking defeated. “Look… It’s only fair you knew bud. How… How about I get these wounds patched up and we go get a drink or two after this, I’ll tell you everything.” Tanya, silently agreed and proceeded to her hands on Revs arms, and proceeded to hug him. Rev Hugged back. “Thanks bud.” Rev visibly shaken a little and near tears from all the stress. After all was said and done, Tanya broke the silence. “Now get yourself patched up hun, you’re ruining my clothes with you bleeding all over the place!” Tanya said jokefully sticking out her tongue. “Yeah well, you don’t need me to do that!” Rev responded in is more normal sounding upbeat voice. “Hah” Tanya responded, as both of them made their way downstairs.



- A half an hour later -



Rev was sitting on the bumper of an open ambulance, with his arm and hand freshly wrapped with medical bandage. Watching the various passers by, and the crowd once surrounding the apartment complex, slowly dissipate. Tanya came up to the ambulance and checked up on her partner. “You doing good now Rev?” Tanya asked. “Yep! The paramedics cleared me for good health, the graze from earlier, was merely a flesh wound and the stabs from my hand were nowhere near critical as once thought. But, otherwise, ready to go!” Tanya nodded in approval. “Good, cause you’re paying tonight” Tanya Teased. Rev responded with a chuckle while getting up “Of course. It was my idea after all!” As both of them made their way towards their patrol car, opening its doors and getting in, Tanya asked Rev. “I thought you don’t drink? You told me that yourself.” Rev, started up the car. With a smirk, looking back at Tanya. “I don’t, and today isn’t one of those days.” Tanya dumbfounded asked. “Well then… Oh, never mind you git.” Tanya chuckled. “Just another day for you I guess, huh?” Rev pulling out and proceeding to drive towards their local bar responded, intending to keep to the offer Tanya and Rev agreed to on the rooftop. “Yep, Just another day Tanya. Just another day.”

So, this was a bit of a longer story based off a random doodle I made one day as a joke, but ended up wanting to use it, and after reading a certain story from another person, knew i had to do something with it XD
