crusader helmet in progress.
An SCA legal helmet I am currently working on.
The type was popular during the crusades, and is often called a topfhelm, crusader, or salt shaker.
The center of the faceplate is now welded and ground down, but I have not taken pics of it yet.
Construction is mild steel, and is all 14 gauge with a 12 gauge top or deck.
