So as per my promise earlier I'm going to be posting three stories featuring good sir Guardian from Hyper Light Drifter on here and this is the boring one that nobody will like except for me but this thing is a trilogy so here it comes anyway. It's just fluff, hugs anmd good times. Also deathly blizzard but you know, waddayagonnado.
This one's the result of an RP I've had with the kind-hearted and wonderful
CommanderLeifN7 at a very, very difficult time in my life.

Guardian's Comfort
Markus stood over the abyss looking out into the distance. A titanic robot lay way in the distance, overgrown and subsequently covered with layers upon layers of snow. The young man was still trying to catch his breath, the biting cold hurting his lungs with every breath. He had been standing in that same spot for fifteen minutes already and yet he couldn't get himself to keep moving. He knew that he'd collapse soon had he continued onwards like this and yet the thought of standing there in the cold for much longer was borderline suicidal. He exhaled, watching his breath turn into vapor and quickly disappear. Closing his eyes he turned to keep moving up the mountain path.
Each step was a feat at this point. It was getting hard to think, let alone to keep moving; he didn't even remember what got him to venture all the way out here in the first place. But he stubbornly persisted. Heading back down would hardly help at this point, but if he could find a break in the wall, an alcove of some sort, maybe he could at least try to warm up a little.
With not much fight left in him the human dragged his feet through the snow leaving twin tracks as he crawled along. Yet soon enough he simply hit his limit. With final bits of strength leaving his exhausted body he collapsed atop the soft blanket of the snow, throwing one last glance over the land far below before blacking out.
The Guardian ventured forth into the mountains, undeterred by their imposing figure before him. His gloved hand turned into a fist around the pommel of his sword, an echoy sigh being heard by none around him except hidden monsters, too scared to challenge the mighty man. He stepped up the path, his armor clanking and jingling gently with each step, overshadowing the soft rustling of fabric from his clothes. As he ventured forth, the wind would pick up, piercing his armor by flowing snowflakes through the chinks. His clothing below protected him however, and he continued on. It was a little while after the storm intensified that he heard the sound of something crumpling in a pile ahead. He noticed a black outline, and went to investigate.
There he was, a small fellow, his eyes closed and looking peaceful yet distressed. The Guardian saw no other alternative; he had to save the young man. He reached down, scooping up the unfortunate traveller in his arms, adjusting his coat to preserve what little warmth his new friend had left, and continued forward, looking for a cave.
Markus' body was overwhelmed and he couldn't directly process anything that happened around him, yet even through his sleep he sensed the presence of something warm and clung to it instinctively, his hands gripped gently around the man that carried him. The human didn't make a sound though and beyond the slow rising and falling of his chest his body remained unmoving after that.
It didn’t take long, upon finding one, the Guardian retreated inside, setting the little guy down on the ground and dropping a bundle of sticks he prepared just for this kind of situation. But he simply stayed there, not wanting to light them yet. The man he found was not ready, it wasn't safe to part from him yet, even for a second.
Slowly the sickly pale skin of the human's face started regaining color, coming to life after the human's encounter with the forces of nature. A little later a quiet "Mmmmngh..." a barely audible moan sounded from the man and he shifted in his place, pulling his knees closer to his chest in his sleep.
"Shhh." The Guardian said over Markus, guiding him to conserve energy the best as he could. Seeing the little guy moving though lifted his spirits. He would have been greatly saddened to have needed to make a grave out here once the storm had cleared.
In the darkness of the cave, the blued steel helmet turned down to look at the little guy, and the Guardian vertically aligned Markus a bit better. His arms wrapped around his waist and they both sat upright, the Guardian watching solemnly outside, counting the snowflakes as time passed.
The human, although still unconscious, finally showed signs of activity. Breathing less heavily now, sighing softly at the feeling of being held, hugged even, surrounded by warmth of another's body. Had he been awake all of those things would leave the human feeling awkward, yet in his sleep he was blissfully unaware of his surroundings.
The Guardian could feel Markus become less and less cold, and soon enough, he felt comfortable enough to leave the little man alone surrounded by the fur coat. He gathered his flint and steel, using them to light the tinder on fire and bring true warmth into the cave, combatting the destructive powers of entropy.
Left alone with the coat the human quickly readjusted himself, laying down on the ground and wrapping it around himself with surprising aptitude for someone in deep sleep. Soon enough though he would come to, it seemed.
The eight foot tall golem of a man casted a looming shadow of benevolence over Markus peacefully sleeping, letting his body recover from the ravenous cold weather outside. The Guardian’s eyes could barely be seen beneath the shadow his helmet casted over his face, but they seemed cheerful nonetheless. He found the little man wrapped in his fur coat a little adorable, he felt comforted by the fact that Markus was likely going to be okay. He knew their fire would dwindle soon enough though, and warmed himself for just a bit longer, before taking his sword and stepping out to chop more wood, hoping that his new friend would awaken while he was gone, and would stay as well.
Markus woke up from a strange dream. Stirring under something warm and fluffy he was both relieved and alarmed when he finally realized that he wasn't dead nor was he still freezing in the snow. He sprang with a jolt and threw a few panicked gazes around only to find himself alone in a cave next to a fire and with someone's cloak draped over him. Whoever brought him here saved his life, he thought and shuddered.
He brought his hands to the flame, the soothing warmth seeping into his body for a few moments before he finally got up and came closer to the cave's entrance to look out and see if anyone was nearby but saw little but rock and snow. Markus sighed and reluctantly made his way back to the fire.
It wasn't until a while later that the human heard snow crackling under someone's boots. He ran to the entrance again and saw a man who seemed horrifically underdressed for such weather carrying a bundle of sticks. Putting two and two together, the human rushed forward and hurriedly draped the cloak over its owner, before running back inside just as quickly.
The Guardian grunted, smiling at the fact that Markus was awake and seemingly okay, letting the human take his burden and smiling as he made his way into the cave as well.
Markus’ body was still weak, he had quickly run out of breath and hurriedly put the firewood down, laying one hand on his chest as he breathed heavily trying to recover. He waited for his savior to get inside before he stepped on over to the taller man and gave him a tight hug. "Thank you..." The human whispered.
The Guardian jolted a bit in surprise at the gesture, the affectionate gratitude making him blush, yet Markus would not be able to see that, due to the helmet hiding his face.
The Guardian said nothing, instead gently rumbling at the warm feeling of Markus against his cold chainmail. He stroked the little guy's head a couple of times before leading him back to the dying fire, fueling it with a fresh log, tossing it into the fire which rumbled at the presence of more wood to destroy.
Shy by nature, Markus had backed off after their hug was broken, he took a seat by the fire opposite from the man he owed his life too. He struggled for a few moments to find words to say to the man whom he recognized as one of the drifters, the seekers and keepers of ancient secrets.
The Guardian audibly sighed, pulling at his coat fixing it as little. He was evidently freezing himself, as he went out without it. But his hearty stature and figure allowed him to persist stoically, unflinching. He sat cross legged, quietly enjoying the crackling of fire when he glanced over to Markus.
The human just smiled at the man at first, trying to work up the courage to start a conversation.
But the Guardian just opened his coat, patting at his lap and inviting the little guy over without a single word, hoping it’d help both of them warm up.
Markus couldn't help but tilt his head slightly in confusion. "Y-you sure?" He asked. But as he received a silent nod in response, he took a step closer. "Thank you... again."
Markus sighed with relief and carefully lowered himself on the ground next to the drifter and moaned softly as he leaned back into his embrace. Markus closed his eyes and felt pure bliss for a few moments letting his mind drift away.
The Guardian's glowing eyes closed, completely hiding his face from all within the darkness of his helm. He inhaled deeply, bringing his coat around Markus and enjoying the warmth that they brought to one another. His arms curled tightly, and he used them to hold the little guy in place. To the drifter, this was yet another deed required of him due to his kind nature, a deed that he was happy to fulfill. The wind howled outside, licking at the entrance to the cave, but the heat within circulated, and kept the pair warm.
As the young man’s thoughts swam, pouring from one to another he was suddenly struck by a realization, a memory really. "Oh right!" He exclaimed and hurriedly searched the various pockets on his own coat for the reason of his own trek up the mountain. The Guardian let out an inquisitive hum at the commotion.
The human pulled out a very small yet immensely valuable piece of technology, a small red triangle which he proudly presented to the taller man. "I... I heard in town that you drifters are looking for these and I..." Momentarily he hesitated. "I would like you to have it sir!" He exclaimed with resolve right after.
The Guardian’s glowing blue eyes widened in excitement, shocked that the little man had such a thing. Rather than immediately snatch it from Markus' hand like his instincts told him to though, he hugged tighter, letting out a joyous gasp and chuckle. Markus could feel himself compressing beneath his incredible strength, but the Guardian was careful not to hurt the little fellow. He graciously took the triangle from his hand, looking at it shimmer in the light of the fire. He gave Markus a knowing nod, and a bit of a bow. He was a man of few words, and while gratitude was not in his vocabulary, it was evident in his body language.
