It's okay! What I'd recommend to avoid it to such an extent is to sketch out a very loose framework so you can make sure proportions are okay before you dive into the heavy detail. That way you won't feel forced to cram the entire body into the borders of the paper regardless of whether or not it actually -should- work. ;)
