I see it more as a symbolic way of looking at one's own existence; such as seeing the so called "happier" side of life but wondering if it'll be worth it given so many times that light has faded away. It's not so much a dislike for being happy..only the things that are labeled as being "required" in order to be happy. The light is there and while someone may not go into it that doesn't mean they hate it..it just means they're more comfortable elsewhere...and after all..who ever made it a rule that light had to be symbolic of happiness? Light can be just as sorrowful in nature as shadow and to deny it would be ridiculous.

That's how I relate anyway..please excuse how I dragged on like that. Good work as always..

Light is one of the two extremes. I prefer to dwell in the middle of them. But sometimes, darkness can bring more happiness tan anything else. Hmmm.

Looks nice, I think the concept is interesting. One thing you could have fixed here is that maybe you could shade the background parts darker, so the character would stand out from the background better. Good job though.

Interesting...the shading came out very nice in particular.

The light can be promising AND ambidextrous. It may promise rewards AND traps. Leading you to a better place or luring you into a quicksand pit. And noone can warn or help you, only you yurself will find out what the light has in store for you.

So your pic for me describes the real life, but you seem to be quite confident in the pic, and confidence is badly needed in RL.
