Uma Musume isn't too ambitious, but it's also not as transparently exploitative as it could've been. I mean, the premise is essentially combining three notorious money magnets into one: Mobile gacha games, horse racing and idol groups. That's the Triple Crown of "dump your money into this faster than you can stop yourself" phenomena in Japan. Most of the show's charm comes from PA Works' consistent and inviting production effort. This show won't exactly knock your socks off, but it's definitely better than the majority of these cast-of-thousands mobile game adaptations.
Also, yes, that thumbnail is an official promotional pic that spells "Derby" as "Durby" and that's both hilarious and kinda adorable to me.
