I got me a new toy! ^^
I went into a Habitat for Humanity store, which is kinda like a thrift store, looking for an office chair.
Anyway, all of their office chairs were crap, but I caught a glimpse of this beauty! It's an old electric organ. Sure, it's kinda beat up, spots where there are dings and scratches, and some pain splatter in the side, but I took a look at the price tag: $45! And here's the real kicker; IT WORKS!
I've been trying to arrange how to get this thing transported from the store to my house for the last couple days, and finally managed to get it to my house today! I had to rent a pickup truck, and the guys at the store helped me get it in the back of the truck. Once I got top my house,I had to unload it by myself, (and this thing is kinda heavy, probably a couple hundred pounds!). I backed the truck up to my patio, used some planks of wood to make a ramp from the truck bed to my door, and put some makeshift furniture dollies I made from wood plank and wheels I got at the hardware store, and very carefully rolled it down my makeshift ramp, and into my house! I BARELY managed to get this thing through my hallway and into my music room! (I'm gonna have to bring my piano in from the other direction, since there's no way it will fit through my hallway).
Anyway, I was able to plug it in, and play on it a bit. All of the keys seem to work just fine, and all the lights are functional too! Some of the other buttons seem to stick or not work, but to be honest, I have no idea how to work any of the features on this thing, so I can't really be curtain if something doesn't work until I can find a manual for it ^^;
There's no doubt though that the electronics are a bit worn out, sometimes the speakers sound a bit off, but hay, I can't complain when I got it for $45! I'm gonna play the heck out of this thing! And maybe when I'm a bit better at electrical engineering, and have some decent testing equipment, I can try to see if I can fix what needs to be fixed? It would certainly be a good project. And if for any reason I do end up killing it, I'll still have my piano that can mimic an organ sound, and this thing was only $45!
I'm definitely gonna have to get piano lessons now! XP

That is definitely an odd place to find an organ! XD
I've been playing a couple simple songs on mine. I still hardly know any of the features on my organ, or even if they work. Though I did figure out that the two levels of keys are actually the same notes (the ones that line up anyway), they're just a different sound. (although that might just be a setting I don't know about ^^; )

They do get a lot more complex The big ones can be nearly anything. Get a load of how fast this guy is.
