Zellinia: Are you Bard Williams?
Bard: Why..uh...yeah?
Z: Hi! I’m Zellinia Jones...Your ‘Blind Date’...Judging from your reaction I’m going to guess that Sasha didn’t say I’m actually blind. Her idea of a joke i guess....Silly, stoned, and still thinking she’s twenty...but she’s my friend, so...”Meet this guy, I think you’ll like him”...I guess she means well...Sorry for her flawed ‘sense of humor’.
Z: So let me guess, ...you’re tall, handsome, and muscular – right? Hee!
B: Uh..well..yeah.
Z: Hee! Aren’t they always? Sorry, little joke.
B: Uh...but I am...sort of...
Z: .... Really...? ...
B: Yeah.
Z: ....You know, maybe i should kill Sasha....Well, if you still want to take me to the concert, maybe you could pretend the short, fat girl is your sister ?
B: How about I pretend the ‘short, fat girl’ is my date? And maybe you could pretend that your date’s first sight of you..was, to be honest, ‘a bit short, plump, and...something more than cute and pretty’. ‘Blind’ was a surprise. ‘Six fingers’ or ‘glows in the dark’ would be a bigger surprise...sort of fun...You don’t have six fingers or glow in the dark, do you?
Z: ....
B: Well, just an ordinary guy lucky to have a wonderful date...and we might scoot along now or we’ll miss the start of the concert.
Quick colour - reworking Zell's proportions.
Old pic of the first panel of “Zellinia and Bard” “comics” pages - just a dozen or so rough pencils from around ‘02 or so. Wasn’t a full story – first date, 2nd date, break-up as he’s over protective, and then they get back together – not really a story as such, but in these moments they became alive to me as characters.
The original drawing was off proportions, so i wanted to have a modern idea of her proportions...although the old inking had super cute face and hair....anyhooo – WIP

Back when i was in art school, at Los Angeles City College, we were next door to The Braille Institute – so i had a few blind students in my music, philosophy, anthropology, etc classes and - you go from admiring their ability to get around in the world on their own - to realizing that, for the the most part, they’re just like us, being blind isn’t a big deal to them – they can deal with the world just fine.
So Bard’s attempt to be overly protective creates some initial conflict in their relationship, cuz he would be that way with anyone...and they eventually get over it.
A little story shedding light on this – but having larger implications – there are always areas where we have no information and friends do...learning not to be prejudiced and trust good friends.

Wish there was a universe where i could post all old rough pencil story snipits where they would actually look good. Rough pencils with crowded pencil dialogue are not in high demand here...so...eventually some pics happen...

Maybe site called "Here's Everything I Ever Drew" wiff 100,000 pages plus of quick pencils and jotted misspelled word balloons for all the ten million artists on said site? It's good enough to a site or two with a few friends who put up with all WIPs and sketches i post between scant finished pieces.
