Chows have this horrible reputation, but you have to note, a lot of Chows are kept outside, to be ignored and harassed by passerby's. These are dogs that, while aloof, are very bonded to one person in the family, and require lots of interaction and socialization due to their nature. On top of that, they have suffered as a breed due to two separate bouts of popularity. One in the 30s, and another in the 80s. It's hard, very hard, to find a good breeder in Chows, but their manners and real personality make the search worth it.
