Another character for Shadi's setting! :D
This poor guy was abandoned as a kitten in an alley, since his parents thought his fur color was a bad omen. He was found by a human couple and, since they had no children, they decided to adopt him. They called him Sebastian, treated him like a son and gave him a human education, which is why his appearance and manners can be quite odd for one of his species.
At first he was legally their servant, despite being treated like a son, but after many legal battles (and exploting many legal loopholes) they managed to have him recognized as their heir, and gave him the family's surname, Escobar. Thanks to this, Sebastian is officially a human in the eyes of the law, and as such he can own his family's business, something that would normally be illegal for an Ajshar.
However the most important thing is that Sebastian invented the first printing press, something that will be recognized as a revolutionary discovery in a few years. He is now trying to use his invention to bring peace between humans and his own species, by publishing books and treaties on the issue of non-human equality.

My thoughts before reading description: Did he steal those clothes? >__>
Afterwards: Is his printing press ink-based or embossing-based? I don't know why that comes to mind, as it doesn't make sense, though. Like, somehow being his race, they'd want embossed stuff, but I imagine that their fingers wouldn't be even as sensitive as human fingers.
So then I'll just resign myself to appreciation and trying not to think so hard. XDDD

I'm curios. Did you have a reference for his attire or is it your own design? I find the different patterns of both sleeves and legs quite the attention-getter. Nice work!
Also, a truly interesting tidbit about his history. With an upbringing like his, I could imagine him fighting quite hard for equality between the races. I wish him the best in reaching his goals.

Wow
Description sounds like "a large amount of people want him to die".
Noble humans can hate him only for his origin, needles to say about usage of his invention, which is other cause.
And aishar probably are not enthusiastic about the idea of man with so bad coloring, who tries to help (once even his parents was too frightened to keep him).
He's a pretty lucky guy, if he's still alive.

Oh, boy. The printing press will go over like a lead balloon for some, a tool in the fight for freedom for others. He must be fiercely intelligent and free-thinking to have come with something like that on his own! Grey fur is considered unlucky? Hmm. I can see him having to walk a VERY NARROW path between both cultures.
I hope the local populace do find interest in printed materials, unlike the Ottomans in real history. Although the records indicate that there were printing houses in Kostantiniyye from at least 16th century, lack of interest of the muslim public and competition with traditional scribes prevented them from impacting the society as much as it did in Europe.
It will probably take a while, but it will certainly be a revolutionary invention!
Yep, the scholars from the higher classes tried their best to keep their monopoly. However I must admit I don't know enough about the ottoman Empire history to know more about it.
I wonder what would have happened if the Empire didn't fall into decline...

Perhaps your character should start his business by printing religious texts at first, as Gutenberg and his colleages did, for there always is a market(and public interest) for religious texts.
By the way, does your cat people have their own organized religion(s) and canon(s)? If they have, what are the core teachings of it(them)? I am also curious what kind of religions your humans and dwarves have as well.
Regarding Ottoman Empire, I suspect that if they did not fall into decline, the middle east might not have been as tumultuous as it is now.
