It's unusual, but symbionts can get another symbiote. They just need to convince the symbiote to pair with them, since hive symbiotes don't see symbionts as targets. The main difference between a succubat symbiont who gets a crown crab, and a crown crab symbiont who gets a succubat, is color

I was thinking, with all the extra mass that crown crabs give, they must essentially be mini nuclear reactors. That much side difference would be a huge store of energy.
On that thought, if crown crabs store energy to transform the host, can the stored energy cause varying sizes in hosts? Example, a young crown crabs makes a slightly bigger transformed host whilst an older crown crab, at their peak, will make a huge transformed host?
