Here's a reference of a new bat boy I had designed by
flashspot
His name is "Torook" and he's a member of Jeza's tribe of jungle bats, the Zuzu.
Living in the jungle, there are many dangers to be had. From rival tribes looking to pilfering your lands, to deadly predators looking to turn you into their next meal - there are plenty of prevails lying in wait behind every bush. So to protect their people and their way of life, the Zuzu trained their most athletic, and most fearless of males to serve as their protectors against whatever threatens them.
Now these warriors aren't expect to fend off these dangers with just sticks and stones. They're actually given a variety of different weapons to fight with - the most fashion being the "Zuchaka". The Zuchaka is a club/sword hybrid that is perhaps the most deadly weapon in their arsenal. It's creation came as a result of the Zuzu being a coastal race. Living near the ocean's edge, the Zuzu learned to utilize the many bounties the sea had to offer - one of which being the skeletal remains of sea urchins that wash up on their shores. What they found were these "tests" proved to be quite resilient. Now at first they used these discs as tools, but eventually what they discover is that they were actually strong enough to break bones with. Seeing the potential, the Zuzu embedded these discs into a board and started using them as a more efficient means of protecting themselves, instead of their traditional slings. Now after repeated use, the Zuzu started noticing the tests would eventually chip and break, but what they soon learn was when this occurred, the edges of the broken tests were actually quite sharp - enough so that they could easily slash away at their foes skin. And so, with the near endless supply of tests the sea allotted for them, the Zuzu employed the Zuchaka as their favored weapon for their warriors to wield.
Now having a good weapon is just one component of a warrior - the other being the training they receive. Aside from learning how to fight, all Zuzu warriors are trained to master the most underrated aspect of combat - "Evading". You see, with the Zuzu being a race of small jungle bats, it comes as no surprise that in the face of larger adversaries like the Pumari, knowing how to dodge is pretty key in survival. Since the average Zuzu male is around 5ft in height, it goes without saying they wouldn't last one blow from a towering Pumari Juggernaut, even with armor. So success in combat lies in not getting hit at all. Now to maintain maximum movement and agility, Zuzu warriors are conditioned to go into battle with virtually nothing at all. Brandishing only their weapon in hand, and a small shield to protect against projectiles, Zuzu warriors employ not only speed and agility, but also stealth and teamwork to best their opponents.
Working as a team, Zuzu warriors often employ 'Decoy' tactics when facing against a single, but much larger adversary. Generally what this means is the warriors take turns acting as a distraction to hold the attention, and focus, of their target - whilst the others hastily dart by, landing quick hits as they pass. Essentially the idea is after enough blows have connected, the enemy will eventually succumb to their injuries, thus allowing the warriors to gang up and finish the job in group fashion. Now depending on what they're up against, this may require a multitude of Zuzu warriors to pull off, but thankfully - because of the Zuzu's promiscuity, there's never a shortage of brave warriors to be had.
Like bats in a swarm, the Zuzu depend on their massive numbers to overwhelm their foes. When one is struck down, countless more take its place. They are the Zuzu, and they are many!
