Traditionally hippocampus are shown with the forequarters of a horse and the hindquarters of a fish, but it seemed to make more sense to give him the hindquarters of a sea mammal instead!

you know something. i read the series perceus jackson and the olympians and i know the hippocampi they ride on in one of the books (forgetting title right now) are half horse half fish yet for some reason when i visualize it while im reading i get a seal..... i dont know why :P great picture too
