[PKMN] Warstruct / Solace the Metagross
Once again I was challenged by
bh15 to design a Pokemorph--this time, it's a Metagross! While I was designing him, N and I started brainstorming his story, which, in summary, goes as such:
A Metagross homunculus who was crafted many centuries ago to serve as part of an elite force of Warstructs to the Three Sacred Deities of the Hoenn Region--the Weather Trio of Rayquaza, Groudon, and Kyogre. His name of Solace comes from the phrase "Find solace in the fact that your death will be quick and painless", which was basically Solace's MO, as he was a true savage on the battlefield, especially against those who would dare to rise up and oppose his masters. At some point, however, the Weather Trio went dormant--with Groudon and Kyogre falling into slumber while Rayquaza took to the Stratosphere--and thus, Solace and the rest of his Warstruct brethren went into dreamless hibernation within the Sky Pillar....
During the present day, a certain Home Improvement Crew was recruited by the Hoenn government to assist in restoring portions of the Sky Pillar as part of a region-wide revitalization program. Their restoration project hit a snag when Virgil Bleu, distracted by the rather impressive mural depicting the Weather Trio, fell through a hole that had opened up in the floor beneath his feet and crashed down into the basement below. As soon as he shortly came to, Virgil found himself face-to-face with Mr. McMurderYourFace here, the commotion having unceremoniously roused him from his slumber.
After roughly an hour of the crew re-enacting Scooby-Doo chase scenes in order to keep from being killed by Solace--whose first instinct was to attempt to eviscerate all intruders in the vicinity--Virgil attempted to pacify Solace by informing him that his masters were currently gone. While this did indeed get Solace to cease his assault, he was not able to go back to his hibernation. Thus, Solace opted to live in the current time... and started things off by declaring Virgil his new (current) master. Good grief.
Fun facts:
- Though he was built with masculinity in mind and goes by he/him pronouns, Solace is otherwise genderless and sexless.
- Like regular Metagross, Solace was crafted from a total of four individual Beldum. The individuality of each of these Beldum was erased during the overall fusion process--first when 2 pairs of Beldum fused to become Metang, and again when those Metang fused to become the Metagross he is now--in order to have Solace serve his masters without question.
- Despite the cessation of his previous personalities, Solace can still utilize all four of his brains, each one taking care of particular functions: Brain 1 deals with his day-to-day functions, Brain 2 is subconscious thinking and processing, Brain 3 is used for primary memory, and Brain 4 is for secondary memory and emotion.
- The symbol that is embroidered into his breech cloth is the emblem of the Weather Trio, with each color representing their respective member. It was designed as such to satisfy Groudon's and Kyogre's egos (their respective areas of the symbol are larger than the green area representing Rayquaza) while still showing that Rayquaza was the true master of them both (the full emblem itself is in the shape of Rayquaza's personalized Delta symbol).
- While he isn't very empathetic, Solace does feel immense guilt for the atrocities he had to commit while in the Weather Trios service--more specifically, the slaughter of those that had tried to oppose them.
- He notes that while Mega Evolution does give him great strength, the process itself brings him "indescribable pain". On the other hand, he's generally incapable of feeling physical pain
