And unfortunately, now is traditionally the time for the absent authority figures - the parents, the teachers, etc. - who have perpetually failed to catch the bullies or lift a finger to do something about them, to suddenly and "conveniently" be there to punish the kid that has been picked on for so long, and chose this one time to finally stand up for himself.
