Aries Passadar saw him first at the Masters' Games.
Shintycha was selected to represent Tengu Riva, the Tengu city-state located in Agloria and it was because of his talents and prowess that he would later cross paths with Aries again.
They became very close over time and she found she could trust him since he had very little personal ambition outside of duty to Tengu Riva.
That changed one day when he became ill with a virus specific to Tengu. A one in one hundred million rarity.
Shin knew everything had changed the moment he woke up in a morgue... He found Aries again, who told him he'd died from the virus and the Tengu were hunting him. He could alter his appearance, shape his body into deadly weapons and most horrifyingly... absorb people, in body and mind, adding them to a neural strata.
He was humbled and flattered that Aries trusted him, but worried that his hunger would betray them both.
Shintycha distanced himself, but Aries never let him slip...
... even after he came to the revelation that he wasn't Shintycha at all.... but the virus itself, that had utterly consumed the Tengu's body and mind, wearing both as a disguise.
It was horrified, but at the same time, relieved...
But it still loved Aries, and did not wish any harm to come to her. So it disappeared into the world, hunted by the Tengu it once called brothers and sisters.
And once in a while... Aries would get a warm smile from a total stranger and wonder deep down if it was her lost love checking in on her.

You know, his backstory reminds me of something...

I kinda like these type of character designs. I even like the "identity crisis", with the realization of not being the original but a copy; in this case, the virus manifesting consciousness and initially believing itself it's first victim. And upon realizing that, evidently choosing to keep being the original. There's also one of my favorite "dark" character traits I like exploring, "what makes a monster", as well as the implications of needing to kill others in order to survive himself. How many people are really willing to kill themselves to keep from harming others? A lot of deep psychology to explore there.
