A voice sample for the collab I'm working on. (dabs, karuno, Kaliden involved)
I sang the second chorus with overdriven voice.(I anyone knows the correct term, please tell me^^)
I'd appreciate comments about this. I dunno how it sounds to others. Maybe its just stupid or not suiting that song.
I'm still recording only with my headset, so do not rate the sound quality It will surely sound a bit clearer with my new gear, that I'll aquire soon.
This is in SCRAPS btw.

You didn't do a bad job at all really, though it sounds like your voice is horribly strained =/ Perhaps you could try bringing it down an octave? or work more on quality instead of volume. Aside from that and a couple of pitch glitches you did good =3 you have a nice voice, just need to work on it a lil bit =P
Thanks for your very contructive critique!
I tried to put all in that I had, but that was probably too much. It was just the joy I felt while singing this.
Unfortunatly I can't sing a whole octave lower, cuz I have a tenor subject. '(I can reach the G flat, but it sound quite bad and too silent^^) But I think I could sing it softer, so that I can try some volume-variation throughout the song. I will experiment with that.
And I don't mind about the glitches, it was just a quick record on the 2nd attemp. Thats not what this sample is all about.

Yea, I know what ya mean with the putting it all out there XD I do that when I'm in the car, lol. I too have a tenor range, but I can break into baritone every now and then X3 But yea, just a little volume control so you're not belting it =P Been a chorus/ Chamber choir student from grade 3-12, so I've heard it all X_X lol (Can you believe I STILL can't read music for my life?!)

That explains alot!^^
I think I sang for my whole life now and then. I tend to sing while riding my bike *g*, but it's just very hard to improve, without any feedback or critique. :-/ So thanks a lot!
My music history comprises just piano playing (for 8 years) and some choir singing in the primary school. Singing is only my hobby. Sadly I was never motivated enough to look for a band or sth.

You mean you can't read sheet music? (Sry, I'm not so proficient in english.^^)
If so, that's a funny fact, but I can hardly believe it.

Yea, I can't X3 never learned to. I just have really good hearing and memory when it comes to learning music. I mean, I can follow along if I know where we are, I get the note progression on the music, but I don't know the notes by their alphabetical counterparts X_X In short, if I can hear it, I can sing it, and pretty damn well X3
hehe, actually it's not that hard to learn (I can, but I'm quite bad, since I've quit my piano-lessons 6 years ago^^)
So, back to the topic. What do you think about that "voice overdriving" on the 2nd chorus? Does it suit the song along with the classical instruments? (piano, flute, cello, violin, accoustic g.)

my first attems at choral singing. I would be very pleased about a constructive comment!^^

It's actually really good, I just think your really sharp on some of the notes. Though I do know that the mic does a lot of things when it records voice and that all studio jazzing like slight reverb to clean up and widen the track. Also I think you sing more comfortably at least more comfortably sounding at the lower ranges of the song.
Why thanks! I can do it correctly if I have enough time to try and practice. nd I'm really curious about how my voice sounds like on a proper mic and soundcard. I'll try another voice sample with a softer interpretation. I just need a orchestral version from Dabs, so that I get an idea how loud it should be, due to the choice of instruments.
I think you need to use less falsetto for those high notes. You don't have to hit the exact octave that Hansi hits when he sings. It's not about being 100% accurate, it's about emotion and power of the voice. You're not a soprano, so don't go that high :P I do like the overdriven voice, it really reminded me of the original :D I agree with guilmon about your voice being a bit strained. Like I said, be comfortable, not 100% accurate. Just get the right feeling and emotions, then do accuracy.
So it's called falsetto^^ Thanks for the hint.
Hansi didn't sing the upper subjects, but the background vocalists do. And I think they use falsetto I can't imagine they get that high without, but maybe i'm wrong. I've heard a lot of crazy "metal-voices" lately.^^
But it surely it's not quite common for a main vocalist.
I think i could convey more accurate feeling, if I sing it more silent and maybe in a lower key/pitch. I'll try it, and submit another one, soon

Hansi is the only voice in that recording :3 He just overdubs himself. also, he does not use a falsetto. A falsetto is when you rely on your throat to hit high notes, Hansi uses his diaphragm, which gives him that power. Lol metal vocalists can get pretty crazy. The main vocalist usually hits the high notes, which is why he or she is the main vocalist lol. Try in a lower pitch :P I look forward to the next try ^_^
Thanks. This is one of my very first recordings. If I review this, I hear a lot of flaws, but also still a lot of good things too.
Anyway, my voice, or better, the way of using it has changed a lot since I take vocal lessons. I can say, I really got aquainted with my own voice since then. :3
