I'm a nerd and like to invent dragon species XD
Dromeodracus is a genus of raptor-like Dragonids (a class of dragons I created), characterized by their bipedal body structure and large toe-claw. They're swift, very intelligent, and often live in packs. This species, commonly referred to as a Thorntail raptor-dragon (or simply Torntail), is a semi-aquatic, solitary animal. They grow to be six feet at the shoulder, and on average live to be sixty years old. They stalk wetlands, especially mangrove swamps, and use their large feet to keep from sinking into soft mud. Their tails are slightly flattened, and when they need to, Thorntails can swim like crocodiles. They are highly adaptable, and can exist in most any habitat, though they prefer living around large fish populations. The whiskers on their chin are highly sensitive to vibrations, and are used to sense prey in murkey water. The whiskers on their noses are very tough and have few nerves, and are used as lures. When hunting large terrestrial prey, the Thorntail uses its toe-claw to slash open the belly of its target. The blade-like tip on its tail is mainly used for self-defence and mating displays.
When in motion, the Thorntail ether bounds on its hind legs in a kangaroo-like fashion (when on solid ground), or runs on all fours. Its front paws are very dexterous, and are often used to sift through the mud for shellfish and other bottom-dwelling creatures.
This specimen is an adult make with breeding plumage. Thorntails breed in the fall, and males display to attract females by raising their brilliant crests, and by sparring with one another. At the end of the breeding season, males lose their crest plumage, and their dark markings fade.
