This is by far my most intricate page yet, and I gotta say I love how it turned out. For a little insight into the creative process, I wanted to cast at least a little exposition, at least for the characters and their current situation, but I absolutely abhor the idea of just having characters talking to each other as the focus of several panels when I could make better use of the space showing the environment they occupy. A little setting-based exposition of its own. Those that have already seen the page often ask how I managed to have the patience for trees and leaves and such, and to be quite honest a large part of it is because flora in particular is actually hard to get wrong. There's almost no such thing as an out-of-place line or shadow. Whether a branch has 2 or 10 leaves is entirely up in the air. In other words, I didn't need to enforce quality control, just drew and drew, rarely stopping to make corrections. I found it quite relaxing, almost therapeutic.

That's part of the fun of attempting to capture nature. Organic is not mathematic; it flows and shifts and has imperfections. Human's are the one who apply "logic" to it.
Though I have to wonder just what the mother and her child are thinking being witness to this conversation too. XD
