“I don’t know about this, Penny,”
“It’s going to be great, Lemon! With this we’ll be able to fund our sorority,”
“Why am I helping you with this again?”
“Because it’s science! And because if it works we’re going to make a mint, and I don’t mean your sister,”
The science labs at the PokeCombat Academy rivaled those of many universities. Thanks to strong funding and a very dedicated science department the labs and workshops had access to technology that other high schools could only dream of. Most of it was intended for the use of helping to develop better sets and props for the Battle Industry or promoting better health technology. Students for years found ways to be cleverer with what was at hand then had been intended to varying results. Two such students who had visions of creating that next big breakthrough were Penny Cartego and Lemon Swirl.
“Virtual reality is the next great technological frontier, Lemon,” Penny further explained to her rotund compatriot, “If we can get in on the ground floor of that and patent something before others do we’ll be set because they’ll have to use our technology!”
“So how’s that going to help us in the short term where we need money now to start this venture of yours?” Lemon asked pointedly. Penny stopped short in her tracks as she thought about the very valid question. A dismissive wave of a claw followed before she walked back towards the device they’d create and smiled at it.
“We’ll make VR programs and charge other students to play them,” Penny rubbed her chin as she thought about how this plan couldn’t fail. Lemon continued to look on dubiously while she adjusted something on the virtual reality player they’d worked together to make.
“If you say so,” Lemon responded, “when are our test subjects going to show up?” Penny shrugged and checked her cell phone’s clock.
“Should be pretty quick here,” the Scizor answered, “Got two very different ‘mon to test it out,”
“Oh? Who’d you get?” Lemon made one final adjustment then looked towards the other.
“Tabi Warren and Shelly Namako,”
“Yeah, you’d be hard pressed to find two people with different thought process than those two,” Lemon smirked.
“Exactly!” Penny responded, “And Shelly’s willing to do the testing for some free ice cream,”
“Ice cream!” A small and excited voice suddenly spoke up to announce the lil’ Shellos’ arrival; “I want to get strawberry with sprinkles and whipped cream!” Penny and Lemon looked over towards the young girl who walked in with a huge smile. Penny grinned herself, though for a different reason, as she motioned over for Shelly to walk towards one of the VR receivers.
“All in good time, Shelly,” the Scizor said as Lemon just shook her head. Shelly made her way over to one of the devices and looked at it dubiously.
“It’s not going to moosh my hair is it?” the Shellos asked.
“Yeah, is it going to mess with my hair is it?” Tabitha called out from the doorway. Penny quickly looked from Shelly towards the Weavile and waved a claw.
“No, no,” she assured the two, “Well, maybe a little but nothing you can’t fix afterwards,” Tabi just smirked and made her way inside.
“Just remember I’m not working for ice cream here, Penny,” the Weavile reminded her as she settled into a seat near the other VR receiver.
“Don’t worry, Tabi,” Penny assured her, “I’ve got your ten bucks ready to go,”
“Wait,” Shelly suddenly said as she worked to adjust the comically large receiver over her head, “Why does she get money and I only get ice cream?”
“Be…cause its ten dollars worth of ice cream!” the Scizor scrambled to answer. Lemon just rolled her eyes again and went about making sure the final adjustments of to the machine were ready. Shelly thought about the answer for a moment before she grinned big and nodded.
“Sounds fair!” the Shellos agreed. Tabi snickered as she looked to Penny who just glared at the Weavile to hush up. Tabi returned an absolutely innocent look before she settled into her seat.
“We ready to get this ball rolling?” the Weavile asked as Lemon started to adjust the VR receiver on top of her head. Tabi grinned for a moment as she thought about saying something about another Swirl Sister running her hands over her body but figured it’d be better for her health if she didn’t.
“Okay,” Penny started to explain as she made sure Shelly was strapped in fully, “You two are going to experience a 3-D simulation of being in the middle of some battles. I taped some fights here at the school before summer break with special film so you can feel like you’re in the middle of it,”
“Mmm, be kinda weird but kinda fun if you taped my last match for this,” Tabi said as she reclined back in her seat.
“No no, we’re going to be showing you some fights of ‘mon that aren’t as well known so that way you don’t have any bias in your opinion of things,” Penny told her and headed for the control panel once she was sure the two were ready.
“I dunno, I can be pretty baised,” Tabi teased the other. Penny just rolled her eyes in time with Lemon doing the same.
“Okay, you two ready?” the Scizor asked. Tabi give a nod to show she was ready though her posture showed she was already bored with what was going on. Shelly gave the thumbs up and giggled as she waited excitedly. Penny couldn’t help but grin as well to see her latest baby get a chance to work. With a press of a button the device hummed to life and started to send information into the goggles of the two test subjects. For several moments things went along as well as they could hope; Shelly and Tabi started to react and look about as things appeared to be going on around them. It seemed as if everything was going to go according to plan and the two science ladies had a hit on their hands.
“I don’t think it’s supposed to be doing that,” Lemon suddenly said as smoke started to pour out of the two sets of receivers. Penny was yanked out of her thoughts of money counting and looked over towards them with a frown.
“Damn, looks like we need to do some more tweaking,” the Scizor frowned as she reached for the off button to stop it. As she pressed it the smoke continued to pour out and the sound of the machine continued to hum; in fact the sound of it started to pick up and get louder. Lemon looked over towards the two strapped into the machine with concern as the smoke continued to pour out. Penny hit the off button several more times in hopes it might finally respond before she turned and looked for the power cord as a last ditch effort. The Jolteon dashed over to Shelly’s receiver and started to try and yank it off; the thing wouldn’t budge from the Shellos’ head. Lemon continued to struggle with the goggles as Penny finally reached where it was plugged in and yanked as hard as she could. An explosion rocked the room as people and parts were sent flying through the science lab. Silence hung in the air as heavily as the smoke as the four ladies tried their best to compose themselves.
“Everyone okay?” Lemon asked as she coughed some of the smoke out of her lungs; her tie smoldered and flamed lightly as it’d caught fire. She walked over towards a window to throw it open so some of the cloud could escape before she realized that her tie was smoking and quickly smacked the flame out. Several coughs answered her before a few voices did.
“Yeah, I’m *cough* okay,” Tabi finally said as she pushed herself up from the ground, “Got a killer headache but otherwise think I’m okay,”
“My head hurts,” Shelly said as she stood up as well.
“If that’s the worst thing that happened I think I’m lucky,” Penny said before she glanced around to a nearby mirror and yanked up her goggles which had protected her from the soot that now covered most of her face, “I mean we’re lucky,” the ladies glanced about to each other to make sure the others were okay; though Shelly and Tabi looked at each other oddly.
“That’s a weird place to put a mirror, Penny,” Shelly seemed to say, though it sounded off.
“What mirror?” the Scizor asked in confusion as she looked to Shelly, “You sure you’re okay? You sound kind of weird,”
“What do you mean, I…” Shelly stopped as she looked and realized she wasn’t looking into a mirror...in fact it wasn’t Shelly who thought she was it’d been Tabitha. The Weavile looked across the way at herself, her body standing there holding her head and had talked in her voice. Tabitha looked down at her hands to see them blue and green, not the grey and black she was used to. She started to quiver in shock before she fell to her knees and looked towards Penny and Lemon.
“What did you do to me!?” she demanded.
“What are you talking about, Shelly?” Lemon asked as she rubbed some soot off of her glasses.
“I’m not Shelly!” the smaller ‘mon demanded, “I’m Tabitha! She’s in my body! That’s me, not her!”
“Why do you have to be so loud?” Shelly(Tabi) said as a hand was held to its head, “And why do you sound like me?”
“Because I am you!” Tabi(Shelly) shouted, “I mean, I’m in your body! So I sound like you!” Tabi’s body looked at the other and just blinked a few times. She looked down at her hands then back to the seething Shellos before she looked to Penny and Lemon. Tears started to form in the Weavile’s eyes before she busted out into sobs at the prospect.
“You meanie!” Shelly(Tabi) shouted at Penny, “What did you do to us?” The Scizor stood there at a complete loss for just how it was that this could’ve happened. She looked between the pissed off Shellos and the Weavile who wept and couldn’t believe that she’d somehow managed to swap the two’s minds. It felt like something out of a science fiction story or a bad television show. And yet…
“We’re geniuses!” the Scizor proclaimed as she thrust a claw into the air, “We swapped brains in bodies!” A yellow hand went upside Penny’s head and smacked her hard.
“Owww!” Penny turned and glared at Lemon who just walked over towards Shelly(Tabi) body and hugged her to try and comfort the weeping girl. Shelly(Tabi) reached for Lemon’s shirt as the Jolteon came over and hugged her before she suddenly blew her nose into it; which left poor Lemon with an exasperated look. They all turned their eyes on the Scizor as they expected her to come up with an answer.
“What? Why are you all looking at me?” she demanded as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“It’s your device!” Tabi(Shelly) declared, “You get to fix this!”
“Don’t you want to go through and see what great scientific discoveries we can get out of this?” Penny asked. She was honestly curious but she was also trying to stall for some time since she needed to figure all this out too.
“No!” Shelly(Tabi) declared as she continued to sob into Lemon’s shirt; the fabric now soaked through with tears. Penny sighed and rubbed the back of her head.
“Well, I don’t know if I can fix it,” Tabi(Shelly) walked over towards Penny and reached up to grip either side of the taller girl’s lab coat and yanked her down to look at Penny eye to eye.
“You fix your machine and fix this or so help me Josh will never have anything to caress ever again in the future!” The fire in Tabi(Shelly)’s eyes let Penny know she was being serious. Normally not one to be rocked by anything Penny gulped slightly and pulled herself back up to adjust her lab coat.
“Okay, fine,” Penny said, “I’ll fix it, but I’ll need Lemon’s help,”
“Knew that was coming,” Lemon muttered as she slowly pulled herself away from Shelly in Tabi’s body as the girl started to get a hold of herself.
“So what’re we supposed to do?” Tabi(Shelly) asked as she crossed her arms, “Just hang out here until you get things fixed?”
“That’s up to you, I’ve got to work but I don’t need any distractions,” Penny answered as she started to gather up the components that’d been forcefully ejected from the device, “You can stay here or go somewhere and hang out. Just stay out of my hair,”
“You don’t have any hair,” Shelly(Tabi) pointed out before she looked down at herself, “Do I really have to stay dressed in this?”
“What’s wrong with how I’m dressed?” Tabi(Shelly) demanded as she looked over at…herself. She shook her head since it was a weird feeling to not be in control of her own body, “You’re not the one in a sailor outfit,”
“What’s wrong with my sailor outfit!” Shelly(Tabi) demanded. The two shot glares across the way at one another. Lemon stepped between the two before things got out of hand and looked twixt them.
“That’s enough out of both of you,” the Jolteon warned, “This is going to take me and Penny some time and it’d probably be better if it wasn’t here. So both of you…go get ice cream or something,”
“I can do that,” Shelly(Tabi) suddenly said as she looked over to Penny, “and since you were gonna give me ice cream anyway…” Penny sighed and reached into her pocket to pull out her wallet and handed some money over to the Shellos turned Weavile. The other girl was quick to hold out her hand as well.
“I’m still getting paid for this,” Tabi(Shelly) informed the Scizor. With a grumble Penny paid out her share as well.
“Just go and leave us to work okay?” the Scizor asked. Tabi(Shelly) and Shelly(Tabi) walked out the door and looked down the empty halls for a moment before they looked to each other.
“So now what?” Tabi(Shelly) asked herself, something she was still weirded out about.
“Like I said, I’m going for ice cream,” Shelly(Tabi) informed her in a sing-song fashion, “But you don’t get to go,”
“What do ya mean, ‘I don’t get to go’?” Tabi(Shelly) demanded.
“Shelly!” the voice of Cinnamon Swirl boomed through the hallway, “There ya are! Yer late for practice!”
“That’s what I meant,” Shelly(Tabi) said and took a step back and pointed towards Cinny as she stormed down the hallway, “We have to keep up that we’re each other so we don’t make things weird…er.”
“But…but…” Tabi(Shelly) wanted to argue that point but realized that she didn’t really have one, “But…but…”
“C’mon! You can hang out with my sister’s weirdo friend after practice,” Cinny grabbed Tabi(Shelly)’s hand and started to drag her towards the practice room. Shelly(Tabi) waved towards Tabi and her body while Tabi(Shelly) continued to frown deeply at the thought of having to practice when it wasn’t her turn.
“I’ll see ya afterwards!” Shelly(Tabi) called with a giggle, “I’m gonna go get some ice cream,”
“What was that all about?” Cinny asked as they rounded a corner. Tabi(Shelly) looked back around the corner and then just trudged after the Flareon.
“I dunno,” she admitted as Shelly, “That girl’s out of her mind,”
Shelly(Tabi) grinned at the fact she didn’t have to do practice today and turned to skip down the hallway towards the parking lot. She searched through Tabi’s purse in order to see if there was anything interesting in there and was giddy when she found the Weavile’s keys. Thanks to the remote lock she figured she could just keep pressing it like on tv and in the movies to figure out which one it was. Shelly had driven a few times in video games and figured that it was probably the same thing, and then she could get to her favorite ice cream parlor instead of the one that’s not as good near the school.
As she moved through the hall Shelly(Tabi) spotted a couple of other students hanging out at the school for whatever reason. She perked up a bit as she realized that one of the students was a certain grumpy Jolteon that she’d had trouble with and that’d picked on her good friend before. She skipped over towards where Favlaud Shocksa was and wasn’t paying attention to anything going on around him since he was busy looking through his locker. Shelly(Tabi) stopped behind the Jolteon and pondered for a moment on what she should do. An evil smile crept across her face as she realized that she could have some fun with it. Setting herself up the young girl cocked the leg of the body she was in and aimed right for Fav’s backside.
“Oww!” Favlaud jumped forward at the kick and smacked his head into the edge of the locker. He rubbed his head and turned around in anger as he expected to see certain people, but stopped short when he saw it was Tabitha.
“What the hell was that for, Tabi?” He asked as he rubbed the bump that started to form on his head. Shelly(Tabi) stuck her tongue out at Fav in response.
“What you get for picking on Sushi!” She declared, “And Shelly!” with that Shelly(Tabi) started to skip away from the stunned and very confused Jolteon. He nearly jumped again when someone else came up behind him.
“What was that all about?” Kyra Rayleigh, Fav’s girlfriend, asked as she came up behind him. Once Fav recovered from the second start he turned to look at her and shrugged.
“I dunno,” He admitted, “Said something about harassing Sushi and Shelly then walked away,”
“Weird,” Kyra said as she looked at the bump, “Sure you deserve that for some reason though,” She giggled and teased him. Fav just smirked at her. The Jolteon closed his locker and turned to walk away with his Blaziken girl. He looked over his shoulder one last time at the skipping Weavile and wondered why she had acted like someone else; but soon banished it from his mind when he saw one of his least favorite people come towards him; Sushi Kugler-Siam.

“No!” Shelly(Tabi) declared as she continued to sob into Lemon’s shirt; the fabric now soaked through with tears. Penny sighed and rubbed the back of her head.
“Well, I don’t know if I can fix it,” Tabi(Shelly) walked over towards Penny and reached up to grip either side of the taller girl’s lab coat and yanked her down to look at Penny eye to eye.
“You fix your machine and fix this or so help me Josh will never have anything to caress ever again in the future!” The fire in Tabi(Shelly)’s eyes let Penny know she was being serious. Normally not one to be rocked by anything Penny gulped slightly and pulled herself back up to adjust her lab coat.
“Okay, fine,” Penny said, “I’ll fix it, but I’ll need Lemon’s help,”
“Knew that was coming,” Lemon muttered as she slowly pulled herself away from Shelly in Tabi’s body as the girl started to get a hold of herself.
“So what’re we supposed to do?” Tabi(Shelly) asked as she crossed her arms, “Just hang out here until you get things fixed?”
“That’s up to you, I’ve got to work but I don’t need any distractions,” Penny answered as she started to gather up the components that’d been forcefully ejected from the device, “You can stay here or go somewhere and hang out. Just stay out of my hair,”
“You don’t have any hair,” Shelly(Tabi) pointed out before she looked down at herself, “Do I really have to stay dressed in this?”
“What’s wrong with how I’m dressed?” Tabi(Shelly) demanded as she looked over at…herself. She shook her head since it was a weird feeling to not be in control of her own body, “You’re not the one in a sailor outfit,”
“What’s wrong with my sailor outfit!” Shelly(Tabi) demanded. The two shot glares across the way at one another. Lemon stepped between the two before things got out of hand and looked twixt them.
“That’s enough out of both of you,” the Jolteon warned, “This is going to take me and Penny some time and it’d probably be better if it wasn’t here. So both of you…go get ice cream or something,”
“I can do that,” Shelly(Tabi) suddenly said as she looked over to Penny, “and since you were gonna give me ice cream anyway…” Penny sighed and reached into her pocket to pull out her wallet and handed some money over to the Shellos turned Weavile. The other girl was quick to hold out her hand as well.
“I’m still getting paid for this,” Tabi(Shelly) informed the Scizor. With a grumble Penny paid out her share as well.
“Just go and leave us to work okay?” the Scizor asked. Tabi(Shelly) and Shelly(Tabi) walked out the door and looked down the empty halls for a moment before they looked to each other.
“So now what?” Tabi(Shelly) asked herself, something she was still weirded out about.
“Like I said, I’m going for ice cream,” Shelly(Tabi) informed her in a sing-song fashion, “But you don’t get to go,”
“What do ya mean, ‘I don’t get to go’?” Tabi(Shelly) demanded.
“Shelly!” the voice of Cinnamon Swirl boomed through the hallway, “There ya are! Yer late for practice!”
“That’s what I meant,” Shelly(Tabi) said and took a step back and pointed towards Cinny as she stormed down the hallway, “We have to keep up that we’re each other so we don’t make things weird…er.”
“But…but…” Tabi(Shelly) wanted to argue that point but realized that she didn’t really have one, “But…but…”
“C’mon! You can hang out with my sister’s weirdo friend after practice,” Cinny grabbed Tabi(Shelly)’s hand and started to drag her towards the practice room. Shelly(Tabi) waved towards Tabi and her body while Tabi(Shelly) continued to frown deeply at the thought of having to practice when it wasn’t her turn.
“I’ll see ya afterwards!” Shelly(Tabi) called with a giggle, “I’m gonna go get some ice cream,”
“What was that all about?” Cinny asked as they rounded a corner. Tabi(Shelly) looked back around the corner and then just trudged after the Flareon.
“I dunno,” she admitted as Shelly, “That girl’s out of her mind,”
Shelly(Tabi) grinned at the fact she didn’t have to do practice today and turned to skip down the hallway towards the parking lot. She searched through Tabi’s purse in order to see if there was anything interesting in there and was giddy when she found the Weavile’s keys. Thanks to the remote lock she figured she could just keep pressing it like on tv and in the movies to figure out which one it was. Shelly had driven a few times in video games and figured that it was probably the same thing, and then she could get to her favorite ice cream parlor instead of the one that’s not as good near the school.
As she moved through the hall Shelly(Tabi) spotted a couple of other students hanging out at the school for whatever reason. She perked up a bit as she realized that one of the students was a certain grumpy Jolteon that she’d had trouble with and that’d picked on her good friend before. She skipped over towards where Favlaud Shocksa was and wasn’t paying attention to anything going on around him since he was busy looking through his locker. Shelly(Tabi) stopped behind the Jolteon and pondered for a moment on what she should do. An evil smile crept across her face as she realized that she could have some fun with it. Setting herself up the young girl cocked the leg of the body she was in and aimed right for Fav’s backside.
“Oww!” Favlaud jumped forward at the kick and smacked his head into the edge of the locker. He rubbed his head and turned around in anger as he expected to see certain people, but stopped short when he saw it was Tabitha.
“What the hell was that for, Tabi?” He asked as he rubbed the bump that started to form on his head. Shelly(Tabi) stuck her tongue out at Fav in response.
“What you get for picking on Sushi!” She declared, “And Shelly!” with that Shelly(Tabi) started to skip away from the stunned and very confused Jolteon. He nearly jumped again when someone else came up behind him.
“What was that all about?” Kyra Rayleigh, Fav’s girlfriend, asked as she came up behind him. Once Fav recovered from the second start he turned to look at her and shrugged.
“I dunno,” He admitted, “Said something about harassing Sushi and Shelly then walked away,”
“Weird,” Kyra said as she looked at the bump, “Sure you deserve that for some reason though,” She giggled and teased him. Fav just smirked at her. The Jolteon closed his locker and turned to walk away with his Blaziken girl. He looked over his shoulder one last time at the skipping Weavile and wondered why she had acted like someone else; but soon banished it from his mind when he saw one of his least favorite people come towards him; Sushi Kugler-Siam.
Perfect!! Remind me to have these two work with Husk sometime! (Husk's hobby is working on pharmasuticals and chemestry trying to do something "Helpfull" for people since he;s gonnab e around forever... so far he's yet to do anything but find wasy to temporarily use chemicals to make things ALOT more interesting for the poor saps who test them... naturally Nina abuses this.)
