Kaffre loves spending time with Daddy, but he's always extra happy when one of his parents comes back to him after a leave of absence. Especially if there's any chance that they might come bearing toys or candy!
I'm not terribly happy with this picture. Not only are the proportions and colouring bad, but the composition of the scene was extremely rushed and didn't turn out at all the way I wanted. Nevertheless, this picture was designed to depict Kaffre's Mommy Delores being sweet and motherly since I think she comes off a bit mean in previous art and stories and in this role, I feel this picture has been more than successful! *hugs Mommy*
As always, critique is encouraged and appreciated!

She really is a good mommy. She's just a teeny bit more responsibly than Kaffre's daddy which means she has to be the bad guy (such as it were) sometimes.
Don't worry though, Kaffre will almost certainly hug her before investigating any of the bags (most of which are full of groceries and are conveniently off-screen). Mostly because he loves her, but also because he's much too excited and eager for cuddles and licks at the moment to remember how to read...

Thanks MJ, I was afraid people might not like Kaffre's mommy cause I drawed her wrong!
Kaffre's a bit sad about it being nearly his bedtime, but he does love being tucked in and kissed goodnight by Mommy and Daddy so he's not too upset. Plus, my present might be an outside toy that I can't try till tomorrow anyway...

Don't kid about that!!! Although from the look of this pic I'm not ready for them anyway...
At any rate, the pic is set around 7 o' clock (that black box-thing on the left side of the page is supposed to be a window). So poor Kaffre won't get a lot of play-time with Mommy before she and Daddy shuffle him off to his crib...

What a cute pic, Kaffre. It really captures the spirit of being young and what a young one would typically would be thinking about when a parent would come back from a long trip. Isn't it fun how, almost instinctively, parents like to bring surprises back along with themselves for their little ones after long times apart?
I'm always surprised at how hard you are on yourself when it comes to your work. Honestly, I could never draw that well. Furthermore, you did a fantastic job on the faces, Kaffre's hands, and the clothing as a whole. Sure there's room for improvement, but that's what being creative is all about. It's when you feel things are perfect that you really need to look out for troubles. :)

Well, we cubs are pretty cute so that contributes to the parental gift-giving tendencies, but I'm also pretty sure the grownups miss us just as much as we miss them that's why the hugs! *nods confidently*
As for the art, I'm aware that from from an objective stand-point my work looks better to an audience than it does to me since I know what all the mistakes are and what the pic was supposed originally intended to look like, but I still do get just a bit disappointed when things turn out wrong. It's OK though, I don't dislike my work, I'm just constantly looking for ways to improve!
