THIS has been a long time coming, and I'm honestly so excited!! I've had pink hair now for a few years and it's not something I want to give up anytime soon, and the more I thought about Reaperfox in her original orangey goodness, I just didn't feel like I resonated all that much with her anymore. I created Reaperfox a LONG time ago, and I'm just not the same person that I was back then. When I created Reaper, I was a tom boy who lived in jeans and t-shirts, or baggy 'goth' flares and all sorts of late 1990s fashion errors, haha. These days, I'm super feminine, I only own one pair of jeans, and I live and die in pretty dresses and cute shoes, haha. The pink hair was the last straw. I'd been considering making a new fursona for a while, even going so far as designing and naming a unicorn deer character that I felt more reflected 'me' these days, but it didn't feel right doing anything with her. I /am/ Reaper. Aside from personal connections, it's my artist handle and my gaming username and all my friends know me as Reaper these days. I couldn't just ditch her. But what I realised I COULD do was redesign her. So that's exactly what I've done.

It's actually not much of a redesign. It's only a re-colour, to be honest. I wanted to keep her markings the exact same, or else it wouldn't feel like I was still drawing Reaper. Now she feels so incredibly me, and it's strange how uplifting and inspiring this has been! I've literally been buzzing all week while thinking about her colours and the 'new Reaperfox'. So silly how little it matters in the scheme of things, but it feels so liberating to finally have a character that resonates so much with me and my style and aesthetic.

I find it hilarious that most people go through a sparkledog stage when they're like 14, and I'm finally making a sparkledog fursona now as a grown-ass adult. Maybe the pink hair and obnoxious fursona design is part and parcel of my ever-lasting quarter-life crisis XD Either way, I'm really excited and happy with the new Reaperfox, and I can't wait to change all my social media icons to match her new look! <3
