With summer meandering into fall, Conner can't say no to staying at least until Thanksgiving, assisting Caleb and Sandra as they dutifully pick and taste-test apples for pies, cobbler, and hot, spiced cider...

Even Caleb and Sandra can't help put put on their own share of winter weight in the months leading up to the holidays, clothing getting snugger and snugger with each week. Hiring a cooking assistant gives Sandra more time to sample her own wares, making sure every bite is on par with her exacting culinary standards.

Caleb and Conner in the meantime, find themselves enjoying just how soft the other has grown, as the occasional friendly belly rub or pat gives way to exploring just what a comfortable cushion a fattened friend's middle can make.

Even with as decadent as his stay had been so far, nothing could have prepared Conner for just what Thanksgiving dinner would be like... after such a feast, would he really want to leave, feeling too stuffed to waddle, much less move? One more week, perhaps, just to let everything digest...
