gouache I could never work with. Saw some amazing work in an art gallery a few years back.
I wish I could recall the artist, they went to a college local to me and would mix the wilderness in with billboards an fat food signs.

I love the green lizard against the reds and yellows of the background. Nice use of unexpected color in your shadows.

This is really my first time playing around with it. I definitely want to work with it more. It's very flat, lends itself more the cell style shading than blended shadows, and I was laying it on more like acrylic than watercolor.

Thankies =D I *love* bright, contrasting colors. Had a lot of fun with this bitty experiment.

o.o these are all relatively similar in consistency right out of the tube (Holbein). And no, I wasn't diluting much. I had my flat masonite palette with me rather than a proper palette with wells, and I was working outside with only a slanted surface to set the thing on. I was also working on a 2.5x3.5 inch bit of textured matboard, so the surface texture contributes to the look and the scan's actually larger than the original image. *shrugs* The more I play with it, the better feel I'll get for it. I don't much care what this one looks like. It was an experiment with what colors I could mix with the CMYK set, and literally the first time I'd had a chance to use the stuff since the Holbein ref gave me the set to play with.
How DARE you post your gouache experiments in this high-class art establishment! THIS IS NOT STARFOX PORN!!! OMG!!!111+eleventy
XD I think the lizard's adorable! The "chunky" quality actually adds a lot to the feeling of it being somewhere hot in the southwest. I like =D
