Rhy took one of the magical cylinders which immediately transferred him into his master room. Of course, this immediately got the attention of many people. And of course, a lot of people stared at him. Using the little time he had before his fellow students started to overwhelm him again, Rhy quickly rushed towards his own dorm. People soon started to follow him, but by the time they started to move, Rhy was already at the staircase up to the dorm room. Noticing people starting to follow him, Rhy half ran up the staircase, looking for his dorm in a hurry. He didn’t want to see his colleges, not now. He had just learnt what happened to his parents and about his parents’ past, and he wasn’t in the mood to talk with any of his colleges.
He finally found his dorm and rushed in, shutting the door behind him. He could hear footsteps behind him, still climbing up the stairs, and some finally reaching in front of his door. He sat down on his bed. He had to think over what he just heard from the headmaster. He could hear his colleges now walking around in front of his door, waiting for him to open the door and talk to them. He just ignored his colleges in front of his door, and continued on with his thoughts. ‘My parents were in a group of murderers and psychos. They killed, tortured, and experimented on innocent people. Even if they did turn their backs on the group later on, what difference does it make? They already did what they couldn’t undo.’
‘So what does that make me?’
Someone banged on the door. ‘Open up!’ the person yelled. ‘Why’d you run? Come out and let’s talk! We want to talk to you!’
‘Well, I don’t want to!’ Rhy yelled back. He didn’t like being interrupted while he was thinking. ‘Buzz off!’
There was a lot of mumbling, then by the sounds of it, the crowd went away. Rhy sighed in annoyance, and laid back on his bed. But just as he was going to close his eyes and think more closely at the matter, someone, this time only one person by the sounds of it, knocked on the door. ‘I said buzz off!’ Rhy yelled at the door, even more annoyed. His sensitive ears picked up a little whimper, and sighing, Rhy got up and walked towards the door, and opened it. ‘What do you want?’ he half yelled at the girl in front of the door.
‘I… I just wanted to talk to you.’ The girl said. Rhy looked at the girl carefully, and recognized the girl. She was Joeri, who talked to him before. ‘Well, on with it, then.’ He said, looking at her expectantly. ‘What’s your business? And it better be good as well.’
The girl shifted uneasily under his gaze, but still opened her mouth. ‘I… just wanted to thank you. Your parents warned my parents of the assault that was planned on them, and thanks to them, my parents live. I would want to thank your parents, but as your parents are… well… you know…’
‘Dead.’ Rhy said, putting that mark the girl failed to.
‘Yeah. Anyways,’ Joeri said quickly. ‘I can’t thank them, so I’m thanking you. I owe you that.’
‘Thanks.’ Rhy said, half sincerely. ‘But I’d rather not talk about my parents. They did… unforgivable things.’
‘Yeah, they did. But they did save a lot of lives, though.’ Joeri said.
‘That doesn’t mean those acts my parents were involved in disappear into nothing.’ Rhy said stiffly.
‘Well… that’s right. But they tried to right the wrongs they did. At least give them credit for that?’ the girl said, infuriating Rhy a bit. ‘Too bad!’ Rhy exclaimed, making the girl shrink a bit. ‘I don’t want to! My parents, for god sakes, was part of a murder gang! And I hate that! You can’t just shrug off the wrongs your parents did, it doesn’t leave you! So if you’re going to lecture me about what my parents did and how I should act, get lost!’ He slammed the door shut, and walked over to his bed. He was about to sit down when he saw the window in his room. Maybe flying would freshen up his mind. Yes, it would. Flying always helped him out of headaches.
He opened the window, and tried to get out. No avail. The window was too small for him to fit through. He looked at the window, and thought how he could get out. His eyes caught a rail on the window, and experimentally, he lifted up the window and angled it to see if that would pull the window out of it’s rail. It did. He cheered silently, and went over to the door, locked it, so no one would see him missing. Then he walked over to the window, and climbed out, and fell.
Mid way through his fall, Rhy changed into his dragon form. He lifted his wings, and the air beneath him helped him lift up into the air. He pumped his wings, which let him soar up higher into the air. He tasted the fresh air, or as fresh as it could be in the city, and felt a smile creeping up on his face. He loved to fly. Flying meant freedom. Freedom meant well… free. And free meant being a dragon.
But deep down, he knew flying wouldn’t solve his problem. Whether he was a dragon or not, whether he could fly or not, it wouldn’t solve the problem. The solution was to get forgiveness from the victims, from whoever captured them and experimented on them. But he knew it wasn’t possible. No way any of the members of the Devil’s Partners would ask for forgiveness. And even if they wanted to, the higher ranked ones would know of it, and thus they wouldn’t be able to do it, fearing for their lives. He thought, and stopped on one of the ideas. It wasn’t the most peaceful, or preferable idea, though. He ‘could’ try to get rid of the Devil’s Partners. Even if it wasn’t the best option, hey, it was a start, wasn’t it? Liking his own idea, Rhy flapped harder and went faster. He had at least gotten a temporary solution, and now was the time to enjoy.
