I made the mistake of falling in love with a demon. I knew the risk--why it was taboo--the potential consequences; none of it mattered to me. My heart had decided it found happiness and the future we would build together would be previously unexplored territory. Part of that future was our daughter. We created her by accident in a careless flurry of magical energy and lust, spawning in this beautiful half-demon abomination in ways that I still don't fully understand. Though her features asymmetrical and her behavior not the most graceful, she was still perfect in my eyes; I couldn't help but love my precious little Allie.
Naturally while raising her I wanted to teach her my passion: magic. She struggled with it far more than I would have expected considered how gifted her parents were. I soon realized the problem. My innate casting cadence was base 8, and Lilith's base 5. Numerically tessellating these patterns is exponentially more difficult than any existing school of magic, and while I resolved to develop an entire new school of magic specifically for Allie, she became frustrated and uninterested. She grew far more fascinated by the colors and spent a lot of time painting, especially on herself as decoration. Having made little progress in teaching her magic, I deemed 40 point arrhythmic casting as just beyond the scope of comprehension and gave up on teaching her. After all, if her only desire in life is to make herself and the rest of the world pretty, than that is a magic in it's own right.
