Tonight was a special night at Monsters Inc.
It was an alumni reunion for the University, and the buildings were filled to the brim with employees and alumni having a great night. Everyone was wearing his old colors, chatting with friends, restoring drifted acquaintances...
Like Johnny, who was now chatting with his old friends of Roar Omega Roar.
Sulley, who was with Mike and the Oozma Kappa, left them for a buffet break.
He was savoring a delicious toast when...
"Sullivan?"
Sulley turned around and found himself facing a bird-like monster wearing the jacket of the university.
"Pearson?! Damn, it's been a while!"
"No kidding," smiled the purple monster. "Not since you and Wasowski left the university. And now, look at you, mister CEO!"
"Life's really weird in some ways, Pearson."
"Whoa whoa, call me Brock, man! Pearson, that reminds me of my dad!"
"Okay, if you call me Sulley. You really haven't changed, man! Or rather you did," smirked Sulley, eyeing the buzzcut that replaced Brock's old mohawk and mullet he remembered.
"Yeah, it's been a while. Felt weird, having the neck free. But it was time for a change."
A slight beat as Brock took some toast as well.
"You know, I heard that Mike has a girlfriend. What about you? Got a woman in your life?"
"Well, actually..."
"Actually, Brock..." interrupted with a smile Johnny who just came back from his old crew, "Turns out Sulley's more of a man's man."
Both monsters exchanged loving looks. A few weeks ago, Johnny had passed the tests and exams, and was now a Laugher.
He and Sulley had then decided to stop hiding their relation (but the... "other stuff" was still secret). The reaction was mainly joy and approval, and the few fears of favoritism had been quelled when it became clear that Johnny would get no special treatment in the work (back at the flat, on the other hand... hurr hurr hurr...)
When they turned back to Brock, they had to bite their lips to not laugh at his flabbergasted face.
"You two are an item?!" he yelped.
