CHARACTER DESIGN AUCTION: Tarantula Hawk [CLOSED]
This drawing brought to you by my lovely patrons! Each month all patrons who pledge over 5 dollars can vote on which species they want me to draw/design next, and get to see the results early! February's winner was the Tarantula Hawk (although it was SUPPOSED to be a Warrior Wasp but I DID A DUMB but my patrons liked it so SHE'S A TARANTULA HAWK NOW). Sorry for the huge delay on this, winter was bad and now spring allergies are ruining me, augh.
Tarantula Hawks are predatory wasps that hunt, you guessed it, tarantulas, the kings of the spider world. A single female takes on a huge spider, alone, and lays her egg on it once it's paralyzed by her venomous sting. Their stingers can be up to a quarter of an inch long and inflict the most painful sting of any insect, tied only with the Bullet Ant. This particular species lives in the deserts of north America, so I went with a tribal warrior look (although I will in no way claim it's authentic to the native tribes that once lived there, I took some artistic liberties). Her tribe would be one to be feared.
This fearsome warrior lady is ready to mess some spiders-- or any other foe-- up big time.
All payments will go through PayPal. Bidding ends on Sunday, April 8 (1 week from now).
The winner will get a link to the full resolution ref sheet, sans price tag.
If you win I will note you for payment details, if you do not respond within 7 days you forfeit your win and the next runner up will be noted.
