Interesting.......This looks like a P-40-N model, yet it was never used by the Flying Tigers, the last model they used was the "E" model - unless I'm missing something here.........The guys at Wright Pat rarely make mistakes........Is this an "E" or what?
You're lucky to be able to visit that location.
I keep thinking about goin' back to "Planes of Fame" here in So Cal where I was doing restoration work for years in the 80's.Oh well.......Nice pic.

The P-40 was most recognized as one that used the Flying Tigers paint scheme... The Museum states that this is an E model. http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/fa.....eet.asp?id=478
Visually there was little diff between an "E" and an "N". Most of the AVG aircraft were "B"s and "E"'s. To my knowledge there are no airworthy examples of the "B". There are several "E"s still flying but even more "N"s. Most of the "N"s being modified into 2 seaters which really spoils the profile.
Then there was the "Q". Imagine combining the P-40, the Spitfire and P-51 into one! Imagine the AVG with those!
