^u^ Two fairly plain little bolete mushrooms bro and I found at the Cumberland Knob recreation center along the Blue Ridge Parkway in southern Virginia that I wasn't sure about identifying until lately. Now I think these were likely Boletus subtomentosus, or the Suede Bolete (or the Yellow Cracking Bolete even though it doesn't always crack, or the Boring Brown Bolete even though boletes are rarely boring shrooms). A common mycorhizzal fungi in regions with a lot of lime, partnering with broadleaved trees of many kinds most often in parkland areas. Which makes sense--we were up in limestone mountain ridges in a little park area with 85% deciduous trees.
^u^; There's a bit of a rule for identifying these... Welp: If you find a plain bolete that otherwise defies a lot of identifications, it's likely one of these. XD
