I am really happy with this, as it is the first of two things. One and most importantly is that is it what I consider my first completed macro themed picture. Not what I had originally wanted as I wanted a stereotypical high density urban rampage picture but this will do just fine.
Second is this is my first attempt at the Bob Ross style in COLORED PENCIL (not oil paints). Again, I am really happy with this result. =)

Getting a "Mystery at the lighthouse" vibe here sans the cliff ... but that just gives more pawspective. ;3
This might be one of the best of your early pics, certainly a neat composition overall, and the proportions and perspective seem more consistent. (maybe not the uber detail of some of the actual paw POV shots, but still ... overall composition is cool and in color)
Or ... it might be the theme and tone of it all, and those eyes. O.O (obviously those early landscape/space-scape pics you did are far more detailed and sharp, though I suppose the pencil ... or pastel? I'm not sure, sketch style has its own appeal)

It's pencil work. I don't use pastels. I've thought about it and own pastels but never really used them. ^^; They are a bit messy to handle and left me not too eager to put them to much use.
The quality of the older pictures probably seem better because I don't spend as much time on a each picture as I used to. I charge by the hour on commissions and I try to be mindful of that for commissioners.
