So Furnal Equinox was my second furry con EVER. It's right up here in Canada, and it was in Toronto.
Now there is actually a short story around this convention, and a LOT of people aren't going to like it. FE was possibly one of the most un-welcoming furry cons I think a person can go to. Yes I know it was only my second one, but even my well seasoned room mates agreed that the con was...lackluster. The hotel was nice enough, but we had two rooms next to us and across from us that were just endless EXTREME loud noise. Our last day we even had to call con-staff ((who just put us through to the hotel security due to the OVERWHELMING amounts of calls coming in from con-goers breaking the TOS of the con)), because both rooms were having loud parties and the one next to us that had a connecting room was possibly smoking weed? One of the rooms were smoking pot, and it was flooding our room with the dank smell. This was all taking place around 2AM when we were trying to rest up for the 4-5 hour drive home we all had ahead of us.
Besides the con-goers in their rooms and people kinda not being friendly, some of the con members actually being hostile towards other con-goers ((one of my room mates sadly had this experience)). There were even non-con goers, just NORMAL people at the hotel, ATTACKING FURSUITERS! Not just attacking, but apparently a lot of fursuiters were also harassed and bullied by the normal people staying within the hotel. Taking their suit props without asking at all, making side comments as loud as they could, and if dirty looks could kill. What just is Furnal Equinox?! If all furry conventions are handled like this, I'm scared.
