It was a good idea, and just when we plainly abandoned it, I have no idea. Edd Vick of Mu Press believed we would be able to produced limited numbers of cloisonne pins with permission, and approached me with the idea to submit a number of designs. Perhaps we never got the permission ... in any case, the idea eventually faded into unmade history.

I thought it as a mixed bag. I liked the back that the bookworm got the girl, but I hated the hero character -- he was so predictable and perfect that he was boring. The "funny" robot wasn't... Long John Silver worked well, but he derived from a long film history going all the way back to Wallace Beery and Robert Newton, so, if it had been messed up, it would have been surprising.
It was a one-man outfit, really. Edd Vick was owner and main employer, but he had help from Chuck Melville on a part-time basis I think. Edd, of course, had regular employment, and while he did his best to turn a profit, it wasn't altogether his own motive, and rarely made much money. MU Press did publish as AWFUL LOT OF STUFF in its day, though -- less Antarctic on the one hand, but more than Shanda or Vision. Some of it was actually good... which was doing well for furry comics.
