The Agincourt Mark II is a class of battlecruiser for the Feilan Navy, for the World of Feila's upcoming Space Age. I had given the Queen Elizabeth Class the misnomer of 'battlecruiser'. Make no mistake, the QE Class is a battleship, heavily armed and armoured. The Agincourt series are true battlecruisers, sacrificing heavy armour and even artificial gravity to gain a speed advantage over its enemy. As projectiles are moving at relativistic speeds, up to half the speed of light, they cannot be guided, therefore the Agincourt can maneouvre to an extremely advantageous degree.
The Agincourt Class is usually the Navy's form of pirate-hunter. Whilst the Feilan Instrasolar Police Service (F.I.P.S, colloquially known as the 'fips', or 'fips and chips') is concerned with law enforcement within controlled space, police vessels do not have the armament or the training to singlehandedly take on large pirate space stations, which make up some of the Inner System's most dangerous pirate factions.
The Agincourt is armoured well enough to throw off any common pirate weapons, and in return can reply to an attack with a ferocity worthy of a Royal Navy warship. She is designed to be able to enter and exit planetary atmospheres safely, in order to chase down fleeing targets. As pirate stations usually reside in asteroid belts, the Agincourts are constantly updated with navigational software and sensors, and have the maneouvrability to avoid foreign objects with ease. The manner by which she can reverse, or direct thrusters up and down, left and right, is more subtle than the heavy, awkward looking engine bulks of her bigger sisters, the battleships. Microthrusters and complex systems of power diversion allow thrust to be manipulated from hundreds of points on the hull, allowing for the ship to be one of the most precisely directed vehicles in the fleet.
