During wartime Orcs captured as prisoners of war are sent to the pits to fight to the death. Outside of wartime pit fighters compete until knock out or submission. Killing your opponent is not against the rules perse but it is frowned upon since someone with money and influence has probably invested plenty of both sponsoring that fighter. Putting their investment out of commission is not going to make you popular for long and a fighter is only as valuable as the audience they can draw
