X3c A trio of migrating Canada Geese, stopping over at the small lake in Longdale Park. There's a small swimming area that's gone a bit untended for a while, complete with a beach (with the sand being overtaken by grasses and such). But at least it's still a tempting respite for the waterbirds, who were content to lie out there in between grazing sessions.

^^; Well, the ones in the UK are introduced, and likely all descendants of once-captive feather-farm ones. Effectively means they're stranded ferals who never learned they're supposed to migrate. They're thought of as a nuisance, though they're not really a destructive invasive since they don't tend to stray from suburban parks or other non-wilderness areas and mostly leave the other goose species alone. It might be because occasionally smaller wild ones do end up in the north and coexist with the Scottish geese pretty well.
Ironically, in the US and Canada they're thought of as a "nuisance"... and they're native! ^^; That's mostly to do with their habit of pooping in yards, which if it were me I'd be thanking them for the free lawn fertilizer. XD
