:D Marvelous Running Cedar colony sending up its stalks through the melting snow! They cover this entire hillside, with most of them breeding this year. So, hopefully, there will be more and more patches of them established soon. ^^

My family owns land in the mountains near here, and we have Princess Pine EVERYWHERE. They look so pretty poking up through the snow all winter long. I've shown them to my young cousins, and they don't seem to understand how a tree-like, plant-like thing can actually be related to the moss that grows on the sides of some of the trees!
We mostly just have Princess Pine here. That's why I asked if Running Cedar was related; I've never seen it before. We have at least one other species of club moss that looks a lot like the Princess Pine, but I can tell it's different. We also have this kind of regular moss that forms perfectly round, dome-shaped clumps on the ground. It sometimes looks like a mass of tiny green stars.
