The work on velvet goes on! Pretty happy with how the fur is shaping up around her... What would you call those? Thorns? Cheek horns? Spikes?... Yeah, sure. I am pretty happy with how the fur is shaping up around her cheek spikes. I also gave her a tail, but we cant see that just yet. First I need to make her hair beautiful.

And Certainly! Though admittedly my experience with Zbrush's lighting leaves something to be desired.
Also very much the same on that, I never really picked up Zbrush as much as any other program (I mean, just looking at it is daunting as a newbie LOL). It might not hurt to pick up Blender in your spare time and experiment with it for basic lighting, it tends to be a bit more user friendly and has a fair few tutorials floating around
But my experience kind of mirrors your own, and I've been kind of overwhelmed by of different it is.
Though as you said, there are plenty of helpful people out there that are helping me easy into it. BlenderGuru
