I am still learning how to use photoshop to colour things digitally. So in order to get some practice, I decided to add some colour to the Ink of Sascha I drew at Furnal Equinox. Seth provided me with a beautiful scan and I consider it a waste if it didn't get some colour.
I know i didn't do it right, there's some option that can make the grays transparent that I don't know how to do yet. once I do I think I'll revisit this and try again. but as a starter and to get myself more used to the program, this is not bad.

Aw wow this is lovely! Very well done!
To make grays transparent (like your line layer or the like), set the layer with the grays as "Multiply." I use this technique all the time for my shading. I typically have a separate layer for shading set to multiply, where I will do that. Furthermore, you can turn the linework of any scanned image (If you do the levels and such) to Multiply mode to make the white portions transparent as well.
