Wild Magic is, functionally, the magic of natural order. It is most powerful when used to break or restore natural order. More importantly, it can break the normal rules of magic under certain situations.
For example: in this setting, a time mage can, if they wanted, exist in multiple places at the same time. However, that's not natural and seriously breaks natural order. The time mage would feel a significant strain on themselves if they did this, and the strain increases exponentially with both the number of coexistences and their proximity to each other. A wild mage can also do the same thing, but if their cause served to correct a severe imbalance of natural order (or create one, though that's where problems begin), they would not suffer side effects.
