Some people may have watched, or remember a certain Mel Brooks film by the name of 'Spaceballs', a comical parody of mainly Star Wars. It was downright hilarious from the very start of the film, which seems to mock the opening scene of A New Hope, in which a Star Destroyer takes a while to pass the camera completely. In Mel Brooks' film, the main antagonist's capital ship - Spaceball One, takes approximately three minutes to pass the camera, under which Jaws-esque music is played. It finally passes, giving the camera view of the large sign on the back of the ship that reads, "We Brake for Nobody". From then on, the movie gets progressively funnier.
So, I modelled it to make fun of the popular notion, held by some people I know, that spaceships should be industrial-like constructions, full of odd bumps and chunky bits that supposedly make sense. There are no blueprints of the design of Spaceball One I know of - I had to model this whilst watching the opening sequence, over and over again to get certain details in. It's not a 100% accurate and detailed model, but it was fun. :D
All credit for Spaceball One goes to Mel Brooks and the producers of Spaceballs.
