The first of a series of illustrations I'll be doing, because I want to get a feel for the different types of trees around the world. Each illustration will be based on a photo from an actual tree (so you'll be able to go out and find these trees in real life, if you know where to look).
This is the first one: a Jeffrey Pine from the Yosemite National Park in California. I had to modify the branch structure a bit to fit on the size paper I was working with, but it still turned out pretty well in my opinion.
All of these (including their WIP's) will be posted on my Sketch-A-Day Blog at http://peterandcompany.livejournal.com
Finished in graphite pencils: 4H, B and 4B.
