I'm not sure if this show was aired outside of the UK, but this was show ('Art Attack') was one of the main things that got me so interested in art.
I'm sure the premise of this show has been done for other countries, but it was basically a show aimed for children where you made art projects using things that you can normally find in your own home. Of course each project varied from drawings to 3D models (Usually using screwed up pieces of newspaper, used toilet rolls and pva glue) and so, varied in difficulty.
The show was probably just your average arts and crafts show aimed at kids, a few jokes here and there, lots of "This part is tricky so try asking an adult for some help!" but it was special to me. You have the host Neil Buchanan take you through each project with a calm enthusiasm, and made you believe you could accomplish them! He'd do little segments such as showing a flick book that was animated pretty well, he'd show you variants of the projects you will make at the end and my favorite part of the show; a large scale picture.
What would happen, is a simple sketch. Let's say he's on a farm, he smells something but doesn't realize what it is, so he searches for it. When he finds it, it gives him an idea. He'll go out into a field and that's when he'd do something that would intrigue me, he'd make a huge picture made of everyday household objects like bed covers, plates, cutlery etc. It would zoom him on him placing them on the floor, giving you clues about it by showing you a birds eye view, he'd then finish it. It would go to a birds eye view and show the final picture, he'd stand to the side of it (or in it) look up at the camera and do a.. tadaaah! pose, then run off :)
There were other segments like a statue head that would spoof the project he was working on (it would normally fail) and would show the viewer pictures that were sent in.
ALl in all, I found it to be a great show!
But lately, I found a almost replacement program for this show, made by the BBC. It's, to my knowledge, called "Mr. Maker". And I cannot STAND it.
I find the host to be very obnoxious, annoying and he really talks down to you. Running about all over the place. The projects are usually not well thought out, the music is obnoxious too and it has those annoying cartoon sound effects for when he does something 'funny'. I don't know... It's probably nostalgia talking!
Hope you enjoy it!

True, but isn't that demographic covered with.. I believe it's called 'Doodle Do'? It features 3 glove puppets (literally glove puppets xD) and a human host :) One of the projects I saw was a nature colleague, which seems nice enough. and the show ends with a story :)
But with Mr Maker, it just seems to rip off Art Attack so much! xD And with art attack, it was pretty much based at the same demographic as Mr Maker, a lot of the viewer pictures range from 3 to 9 :)
