For about a year now,
Pulsatrix and I have been working on our own world as an AU for a number of our characters <3 Though it's existed for some time, recently we've been writing and figuring things out more, and since I've been scheduling my time for it, I've started drawing it! :D Here is the entire world map of Hubora, both to show geography, and to show borders.
As you can see, there's still a lot of empty area without a country, but that just means we have more room to expand later! :D The ones marked TBA on the map just don't have a name yet, but they're occupied and their cultures are being figured out ^^ As of now, though, our three main countries are Vaso(Mine), Karia(Puls'), and Ikhatver(Mine), which I'll drop a bit of info on :D
Vaso: Region similar to Egypt and Greece, northern areas can be similar to Iceland in climate. Has oasis, deserts, sandy beaches, and small tropical forests. Large enough to be a major world power. Major exports are olives, olive oil, dates, fish, gold, silver, and turquoise. Specializes in jewelry. Cold at night.
National colors are crimson and gold.
Dominant species: Humans
Vaso is controlled by a monarchy, though perhaps it would be more simple to call it a benevolent tyranny, as the Queen has absolute power in Vaso. Unlike most monarchies, Vaso's line of Queens isn't through family lines, but rather chosen and trained by the reigning ruler.
Religion: Vaso is a highly religious country, but also, through the queen, promotes acceptance of other, similar religions. The dominant belief is that their goddess painted the world and beings into existence using her own blood.
Karia: Cold, snowy, mountainous. Climate only allows for hardier plant and animal life. Major exports are animal products(pelts and furs), iron, weaponry and armor, and vodka.
National colors are silver and red.
Dominant species: Humans and Ala-Karians.
-While Karia is occupied by humans mostly known as Su-Karians, the country of Karia is mostly populated by a diverse race of people given the title ‘Ala’, which just refers to their exotic nature(as compared to the ‘Su’ prefix meaning familiar).
Ala-Karians, despite their often animalistic appearance, are formerly human, transformed to their climates by the land’s deeply embedded rivers of magic. The particular species they become is affected by climate and habitat, though it is thought that the Su’s personality also comes into play. This transformation can last for a varied length of time, from weeks to up to a year, depending on the amount of changes occuring.
Karia has three leaders at a time, a triarchy. This mirrors their three main gods Aver, Donya, and Kozki-blood gods that they will ritually sacrifice a small amount of their own blood to as tribute.
Ikhatver: Tundra like climate home to bipedal, feathered reptilians. Winters are harsh, but summers bring plenty of greenery. Like Alaska. Biggest export is the fabric and clothes woven from the feathers of the natives. Secondary exports are plant fibers like cotton, dried foods(such as salted fish), and cold climate fruits(apples, blueberries).
National colors are light blue and gold.
Dominant species: Ikhatven
Short for a sapient race, Ikhatven reach about five feet in height at their tallest, with females being generally larger than males. Though they appear reptilian in nature, they are warm-blooded. Like Ala-Karians, Ikhatven were once human and changed due to their environment, however it's been so long ago in their history that it is only a creation story to them now.
Ikhatven are a nomadic race with colonies made up of twenty to forty individuals led by one or two elders. Colonies gather twice a year to discuss and update laws, and to exchange group members.
Religions: Ikhatven are a scientifically based race, and have no religion but to learn. They also believe that they should leave nature untouched, which is what resulted in their nomadic lifestyle. They move every few weeks to let the land recover, and to move on to learn new things about the world around them. Unlike other peoples, they won't accept 'magic' for an answer to something they don't know, even with magic being a heavy influence in their universe.
All of this is just barely touching on the information we have for them, but I didn't want a text wall
