Same here. XD I made so many bad choiches i replayed the beginning more than a dozen times to find a way to save everyone but from i can say now, there is always a crewmate that dies somehow.
The only problem i have is that i'm running out of save-slots because i'm saving on every big decision. XD

I think i know who you mean. Was it an ambush out of the fog? Direct hit? Then i know exactly who you mean.
Meanwhile i have a run where i lost not just one crewmember, no i lost two.
But guessing on the gallery of "romances" and "endings" iM not nearly half done with finding all plots and endings. Damn, i cant stop playing! XD

Ah yes, that was one of the saddest momends i had till now. Both possibilities of that ambush are hard.
But its nice to see some of the other paths for him. One is rather cute and a little funny, and the other is more "Whoa! Didnt see that one coming!"
Its even so incredible in how many ways Mila can change. I had some REALLY interesting transformations with her and they all have something special.
And like i said: I cant stop playing. XD Last night i was always: "I'm tired, should go to sleep, but... i cant stop! Just a little longer, just a few minutes... WHAT? Its 7am in the morning? I played the whole night? Damn..." XD
I mean, i nearly played it for 17 Hours only with small breaks to get something to eat but the good thing is: You can play and eat at the same time because you just need to press enter for the most part. XD
I wonder when there will be the first fan-art of the crew and other characters of the game... XD

Anyways, beyond all that, this game really sparked my interest in going back to an old tabletop RPG book I bought yeeeeeaaarrrrsss ago called FURRY PIRATES. There was a lot of neat stuff in that book. I really want to go back and reread through it. Might inspire me to try drawing some once more... Who knows.
Either way, glad you're having lots of fun with the game too.
