An old, old, old character of mine from about 2012. Schrei was the personification of my depression, self-loathing, and anxiety. She was always portrayed as an extremely anorexic character to symbolize my both my struggle with weight issues and self image.

Schrei was my repressed feelings of emptieness, and anorexic not because I was, but rather due to the feeling of never feeling full. Always feeling hungry, no matter how much I ate, I still felt empty at the end of the day. Loneliness.

She is both blind and mute. Yet she can hear. She uses clicks to discern her surroundings and enjoys total silence. A special ‘power’ of hers is to create black noise, in the form of a soundless scream. To eliminate any and all sounds in a 10 ft radius around her.

She’s also based on a praying mantis, due to the fact that her featherless wings have been modified to become scythes that she keeps tucked to her chest.

She is unagressive, but easily agitated by sounds and will lash out if something sudden or unexpected happens.

So, I think the way I’m gonna do things is alternate between posting personal and commissioned artwork. I have a really hard time staying motivated if I keep forcing myself to work on one thing while other ideas pass me by.
