I give you my first Horned Owl Backpack!

Yes, you read that right...he's a fully-functional backpack.
Entirely hand-stitched out of faux fur and vinyl, with cotton "Harry Potter" print fabric for the lining. Eyes are large yellow buttons with smaller black buttons for the pupils. The only thing purchased specifically for this project was the lining fabric, and the straps & buckles. All other materials were stuff I've had sitting around for ages. I weight-tested him with three full bottles of water. He's not intended for heavy loads.

This project was an experiment. I used my Hedwig backpack I bought on vacation last year as a template and reverse-engineered the pattern. It took over three months to construct. I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out.

Jaroslaw is a present for a good friend of mine who paid for me to join 'em on a trip to Hogwarts (Universal Studios) last year.

I plan to design a gryphon backpack for general sale in my Etsy shop, but it'll be a while before that gets sewn.
