Aaaaaah these two. I've written about their relationship a little bit on some pieces with the both of them, but it's nice to see more with 'em!

On the one hand, you've got the pirate captain bat Marianne, scourge of the seas, cunning she-devil, gastrointestinal legend whose love for adventure and shining treasure is only outmatched by her love of food. And on the other hand, you've got Wyatt, an absurdly-lucky pirate possum, champion rouge, charming and fiendish, collector and liberator of many a treasure box or rare artifact. And he's the only one who's ever escaped Captain Marianne's hunger. Lost a bit of his tail, but, well. When you're about to be slurped up by the tail, and the lass finds you so delicious that she chomps down and accidentally cuts the end off, you're a lot happier to be out a little bit of your tail and not sliding down her throat. That's luck for ya, sometimes it saves your butt in odd ways! So delicious that she flubs up eating ya, how's about it.

Their paths cross fairly often, of course. Mostly because any time she hears about him, off she goes to try and hunt him down. But he's also the source of a lot of frustration on her end. Sneaking into ancient crypts before she gets there, retrieving old treasures just as she arrives.. There's a small drawer in her room with a stack of papers, notes he left behind in place of treasures he got to first. Also, and she doesn't know HOW he does it, but he can slip right under her nose and sneak coin from off her own ship! Or steal maps to treasure she buried and sneak the whole lot off whatever barren island it was hidden on, before she can get there and keep it from him! One day, she swears, his luck isn't gonna be able to save him, and she'll be dining on him for supper. Or, well. She probably won't even wait till supper.

It's not a super-hateful relationship though. They do respect the other's skills and all that. Might even be a bit of fondness underneath all that cursing and hunting and chasing. Sometimes, they can even work together on seeking out bigger treasures! After all, a big score isn't worth anything if nobody can retrieve it on their own.

But still, underneath the surface of their interactions, collaborations, and shenanigans, there's still the underlying fact that he's her favorite food, and she only tasted a bit of his tail one time. When she gets the chance, she's gonna have the whoooooole possum.
